Apple Releases iTunes 10 With 'Ping' Social Networking for Music

To all those who hate the new iTunes icon, just replace the icon with one to your liking...
 
Say what you want but my favourite version of iTunes has been and will always be iTunes 4.9.

Why? Well, because:

1. It was very fast, didn't take a lot of resources
2. It had a simple and elegant user interface for organizing MUSIC
3. iTunes Store in 4.9 was simple as hell. Just music, audiobooks and podcasts
4. Just overall simple experience and was actually a JOY to use.

I still have it for both Mac and Windows and use it regularly. It is beautiful!
 
Do you think you can choose to not be found on Ping? I don't want loads of people searching and inviting me to follow them on yet another social network!
 
Never had one issue with iTunes ever. I have never seen the balloon or any other issues talked about here.

Ok, not to nitpick here too much but why do sites title articles like "Apple Releases iTunes 10...." when it's not actually released yet, just announced. Granted, in this case, it should be out today, but I see this all the time. I'll see a headline like this and get excited only to find out it's not actually out, just previewed or announced.

NO, it's not TODAY. Here is tomorrow already. GOing to sleep... iTunes10 and actually no any software is worthing the staying-awake-to-download anyways.

It's not new, it's just the iOS icon for the iTunes store, only not silhouetted. I agree that it's ugly though. The silhouette version looks ok but this thing looks like it just fell out of Windows Media Player.
 
I agree, the icon isn't that great :p but meh its an update I guess.. I'm still waiting on itunes 10 :(, Steve jobs said it would be available today.. but no sign yet.. if you go to site it just says "Itunes 10 coming soon".. maybe its to avoid overloading the servers??
 
it doesnt look centred or round actually, it looks like the sides have been pushed back so the middle is shoved in your face. I will be finding a gorgeous new icon on DeviantArt. I was happy with the rest of the keynote and iTunes but the icon ruined it all!! :mad:
 
I think the new icon looks great. It's simple, clean, and should be more "visible" in the dock. If you want to talk "ugly" then you have iTunes 1-9 to discuss. :D
 
The design of the new icon seems interesting at least for the fact that seems to whisper about a new UI in OS 10.7.
Don't you guys think so? In my opinion it doesn't look really random in style, it seems to come out of a whole UI system.
 
I don't think the icon is horrible, but being a designer I would of thought Apple designers would have put more effort on it.. I could recreate something similar pretty quickly, and aside from that the icon could be better :p.. I mean we will be looking at it for a while.. :p

People just aren't used to it, I like how simple it is, more iconic, no pun intended.

People hate how skinny the 1st nano was when it came out, then people hate the short dumpy one, but after awhile people stopped complaining.

Heck I even remember when people used to complaining about the information lcd style window going squarer in iTunes.

Oh yeah, that's why it looked so horridly Vista-ish :p

But yes, it looks like the kind of crap you found back in 2003 on deviantART created by 13 year olds. Honestly don't know wtf Apple is thinking.

All the time with them, great products, great designs, and then all of the sudden, once in a while, bam, an unpaid intern makes something on his lunch break and somehow it goes into production.:confused:

Ahh haha, actually looks OK, but maybe stands out a little too much ;-)
I think it's one of those icons that'll just have to grow on you. :)
