x2. When will the major companies realize this? EVERY one of my main facebook friends use Spotify. This iTunes update was cool, 5 mins later, it's closed and I'm running Spotify. Thx.

Why do major companies need to realize this? Many people WON'T use Spotify because of the Facebook integration.

icon!

Love iTunes 11 so far. Great improvement but...my goodness could they have made the icon not look EXACTLY like the App Store. For us tab switchers it's a nightmare!

Streaming to multiple Airplay speakers was in 10.7 (kind of hidden...), but being able to do that concurrent with the local output is new (I believe).

No, I did that all the time in 10.7 (computer playing in the bedroom piping to two Airplay speakers elsewhere in the house while cleaning house).

Where do I download the version for PowerPC/10.5.8 Leopard for G5?

I don't see anywhere there is a version available.

Did Apple just ditch PowerPC users in the dark with this or something?

iTunes 10 stopped being updated for PowerPC. Not sure why you'd expect iTunes 11 to re-gain PowerPC support.

i dont like the grey in parts, it looks kinda dirty and washed out? and the font is also hard to read and almost seems slightly blurry. it reminds me of an application from back in the TFT monitor ages

hard to explain

I actually hate the new fonts.

This. The prevalent Helvetica is starting to appear in all new Apple OS X apps, namely iPhoto, Final Cut Pro X, and now iTunes. Don't get me wrong, I think Helvetica is gorgeous, but now it's overused.

Oh, so you are the one person who actually used Cover Flow...

Jony I've was wise to remove it. Now if he can just get around to redesigning that horrible icon.

I must be the one who liked it but never used it.

Hate to say it but iTunes 5 looks the nicest of them all.

Quite right. The monochrome creep started thereafter, with the sidebar then the scrollbars then the icons and now the whole damn thing.

Anyway ... running in Windows 8 this is much better than 10.7 was! Native widgets, and menubar hidden by default at last, and not incorporated into the top. Not so fond of the new miniplayer tbh, but other little changes are working out quite well - sidebar hidden is a nice touch, and then not wasting extra vertical space, they handled that quite well. Switching between black and white header menus between store and library is really odd, but other than that I don't find myself lamenting any changes/removals thus far :D.

No Metro app though, that would have been a real boon for RT ... never mind.

Hmmm this will require some getting used to. It's very iOS in style. I will try to avoid showing the left hand side bar (former style) as much as possible, but it will be tempting to revert.

It seems almost too simplified in style. Very flat, grey (even with the sidebar colors), and the iTunes store right hand sidebar could benefit from vertical resizing.

I have 102,000 songs in my library. iTunes in the Cloud still limits you to 25,000. Amazon Cloud Player has a limit of 250,000 songs.

When will iTunes move to 250,000?

Not to be condescending, but 100k songs is too much to expect from a service that's $24/year. I have 10k songs in my library which equates to almost a month of non-stop playback. I've been a musician since I was 12 years old, and I hardly have time to listen to the music I have right now.

When people tell me they have 100k songs, it leads me to believe they are just downloading every album they can find. I think it's time to start being more selective about what you download. No more downloading something just because you can, and if you listen to it and don't enjoy it... delete it.

iTunes Match is not intended to be a free-for-all, you're supposed to put things on there you actually listen to.

First impressions:

Negative:
- Still needs some time to load the covers of the songs every time you browse through them after restarting (this somehow was solved on my iPhone with iOS 6 for example)
- Scrolling not completely smooth (Store as well as the library)

Positive:
- Nice design
- Immediately connected to my Apple TV

Thank goodness they dumped Lucida Grande. I always changed the font to Helvetica Neue in the .plist whenever I upgraded iTunes.

Anyone finding that songs previewed in the store seem to be buffering a lot? is this just cause the server is taking a hammering at the minute?

They have with the previous version. Since 10.7. :(

WOW! this SUCKS!!!!!!
usually I love new Apple updates but this is just one piece of crap!

why are the graphics so ****ing choppy? (I'm on a brand new Mac Mini, itunes 10 ran super smooth on it) where's the genius sidebar? why can't I resize album covers?
why is the icon so ****ing ugly?

this software just feels horribly unfinished! not even Beta but Alpha! & it's way too minimal! If this is the direction Apple is heading I'm not so sure about staying with OSX.

one thing I loved about the genius sidebar is the ability it gave to discover new music. HA! they removed it! looks like I'll be buying a lot less music from the Apple store! their ****ing loss!

Thank you! I agree, I stay with Pandora only because it doesn't force Facebook integration.

I don't even use iTunes b/c it's pointless to try to keep an up to date music library. Streaming services allow the best way to discover and always here new artists.

:apple:

iTunes 11 - WTF is this crap?

5 minutes in and I absolutely hate it! Its as if its geared toward cloud people. I dont use the cloud, I refuse to use the cloud and I am being punished for it. None of my playlists work, I cant find any of my music, videos are out of order. What the hell did apple do? I have never had a problem like this with any of my previous iTunes updates.

and where is my column browser? I dont want to see screenshots, I dont want to see album covers, I hate cover flow. Under videos under music I cant see artists. I see an image and a song name. No album name, no artist name, no play count, nothing. Why cant I get column browser.

Apple, you really goofed up big time on this one at least to me. Its junk. Anyone know if I can go back?

Anyone see any improvement with iTunes Match yet? I still have some songs that aren't matched and hope that with iTunes11 that will be fixed.

Thanks

No, Apple ditched PowerPC users in the dark with 10.7. They didn't just do it with iTunes 11, they've been there for a while
