Apple Releases iTunes 11 with Simplified Player, Redesigned Store, and More

Why when I play a video does it open a new window?

It used to just play it right within the current iTunes windows but I did something a few minutes ago and I cannot work out how to change it back?

Anyone help?

EDIT: I herped. Right Click > Play in iTunes Windows
 
How can I make this mini player stay in the task bar on windows 7 family 64 bits ?

Keeps going away once i enlarge it ! ! !

The new album view is stunning, love how it matches the fonts to the album colours! Still.. it does look a little cluttered so I'll probably use list view most of the time. Definitely a lot faster though.. great update!

iTunes DJ lets you select a premade playlist you've created and play it. Furthermore it allowed you to show previous songs played (up to past 100), and upcoming songs to be played (up to 100). It also allowed you to choose to play higher rated songs more often in the playlist, had a quick "shuffle" button labeled "Refresh" that instantly mixed up the playlist, AND it let users with iOS devices vote for songs, choose the next song, or request a song in the list be played next remotely through WiFi.

Genius just takes a song you choose and plays similar songs based on what other iTunes users might listen to with that song.
 
So far features I've found that are gone that I used:

  • Vertical column browser view
  • Multi-window view (you used to, for example, being able to double-click or Cmd-click on a playlist to have it open in a separate window)

I can live without both of these, but hope they get added back at some point.

What I like:

  • Up next queueing feature. I didn't use iTunes DJ much, so I don't know how much it compares. Will compare when I get home.
  • The multi-column song list view for albums is great. Nice use of space.

Edit: Nevermind, if go to Window -> MiniPlayer, you can open up the MiniPlayer view at the same time as the full view, allowing the Up Next queue to be visible at the same time as the full view (previously: I wish the Up Next list could be a sidebar on the right or somehow visible all the time. You can get it show constantly in the Miniplayer, but I'd like it in the full view.)

Streaming simultaneously to multiple Airplay sources and the local speakers have been around since before version 10. Back when it was still called AirTunes.
 
LOVED everything about the new iTunes Except the album Artwork size. It's Too small!. And I can't find a way to make it any bigger.

i like it too, but without grouping options and the ability to choose ascending/descending like before, it's just far too much clutter to be bothered to go through

if they had the options to introduce some organization to it, sure, love it
 
Bug

I just went and looked at my Apple TV and the movie is listed there and plays. Awesome. Apple really needs to start doing a better job.

You do realize that windows doesn't have an equivalent for universal binaries, right? Apple had 2 choices: present a default that would work for all windows users, or ask each of them if they were a 32 or 64 bit user. I don't think Apple tech support has the staff to deal with the average windows user who has no idea.
 
iCloud Song Problem

Is anyone else having a problem playing/streaming or downloading songs that were stored in iCloud before? I have iTunes Match, and when I got a new rMBP a few weeks ago, I decided I would not download all my songs on the new computer (16,000+) but rather wait and stream or download when I want to listen to them. This method worked fine with iTunes 10.7, but now that I have upgraded to iTunes 11 I am not able to play any of my songs that were not previously downloaded. Any tips or solutions? Thanks
 
I haven't dl it yet (at work). Did they ditch Coverflow, and the simple List view of songs? I have album artwork for everything.

Yeah that is cool! Not sure about the store design, though. Lots of wasted space on my 27" Cinema Display. Everything is kind of tiny and theres big empty spaces on the right and left sides.
