I think it's safe to say this release was a FAIL? There seems to be to many issues and bugs at this stage.

I think it was a total disaster for some. Others maybe an annoyance. Some a waste.

What's most amusing is none of the song info/preferences (Album title, Album Artist, Artist, Year, Genre) have been changed at all by me. They're all the same the day I downloaded them (Last week in a few cases) from the store and iTunes 11 now is all screwed up. I got albums showing up under the name of a movie for an artist. It goes on and on. What I had to do in iTunes when it first came out I'm having to do again. You'd think Apple would get the info/preferences right when you download a song and/or album so it doesn't totally fragment in their software.

The old space bar plus album name glitch to fix things still works at least.

Help me out guys!
Some albums have these cloud download symbols next to songs that I already have! One album even shows 3 of the same song for every song! two cloud download symbol songs and one original that I've had for awhile before this update. I don't understand what this is and how to get rid of it.

It seems you can't have album artwork in list view. I'd say that's pretty much NOT like iTunes 7. I didn't like how it wouldn't show it for shared libraries either. It's kind of a big mess with just text lists and no breaks.

If you go to Artist view, it shows the artists down the left side and then albums in a list view to the right, with artwork. Click on "all artists" at the top of the artists columns and it shows all of your albums, with art, in a list view.

Still haven't fixed the alphabetical issue - numbers should appear *before* letters, not afterwards.

Even though i seriously can't image this ever happening, but Spotify & Apple should join forces :)

Rather then competing, an having missed songs from either, or "one-sided" there WILL be just one HUGE place to grab music. Pandora however,, its just digital radio.

More like iTunes 1, what a dull lifeless downgrade, bring back Cover Flow!

I used Cover Flow for the MOVIES listings so that I could see an alphabetical list of my movies, yet when I would click on one, I could see a decent sized view of the movie cover artwork. No other view gives a nice artwork view like that (and in any kind of grid mode, it's just too much artwork blocked around to get a quick look at lists of movies (hence list mode which my eyes can browse MUCH faster). Cover Flow gives list mode with graphical artwork that can be resized to large if one likes. List mode artwork is very small and not nice for getting a good look at the artwork. Artists (music and movies alike) spend a LOT of time on cover art and shrinking it down to some little tiny thing in the corner is kind of a travesty. There should be an option to show a decent sized artwork while playing or something. iTunes seemed to be heading in the right direction with the full album "plus" sales that included extra artwork, etc., but I don't think they ever even added support for it to the newer AppleTVs. They just seemed to abandon it (like so many things). I find it ironic that I have cover flow on my iPod, though, but not iTunes. I don't see why they can't leave OPTIONS in for people to make their own choices. And I want artwork in music LIST mode (not a fan of GRID mode for ANYTHING. I need to see NAMES and huge separated blocks of pictures doesn't cut it.

Ah, OK. I haven't got iTunes 11 downloaded yet (just going by the posts on here so far and none showed the artist view so far that I've gotten to, but it's good to hear they have artwork in some view other than the GRID). In fact, I can't put it on my old PPC server period (I can put it on my MBP, though), but I just bought a brand new Mac Mini Server Quad-Core i7 with 8GB ram and twin 1TB drives to be my new replacement house server. I just have to hook it up and start moving things over (well the Media drive part is easy anyway since it's a 3TB USB 3.0 external).

In the 'TV Shows' settings for my connected iPhone the scroll bar doesn't work, I can't see any shows beneath the initial page load.
Workaround is to select a TV series and use the cursor keys to go down, but it still will not display in the left column.

I had the same problem. Scroll down on the left of the list of TV shows.

So, with album art gone from the sidebar, how do we add album art to multiple tracks at once, or copy/paste album art between songs? (I'm talking about songs where downloading the art from iTunes either gets it wrong or comes up blank.)

Plus iTunes has no real 'shuffle' it's by no means random at all and never has been - this pissed me off to no end when it would loop the same 200 or so songs, ignoring the rest of my library.

For quite some time, iTunes has included parameters for controlling the shuffle feature. Until I changed them I too encountered the problem you describe. Now whenever I use shuffle it is completely and verifiably random.

Multi-select the tracks, then get info, and add it from there.

hey
i installed and agreed for apple to take data from me
what benefits come from that and is there a way to revoke it?
thanks

yeah, i know it was explained before i clicked agreed, but i was in a rush and didnt get to read it all

Yes you can shuffle any playlist but unlike with DJ (which they junked) you can not see the very next some that is to be played and move the order around by simply g=dragging if you like. UP NEXT does it completely different and there are more steps to take. Remember Steve Jobs always love the one or two clicks to get anywhere.

Suggested work around here are just that. Work arounds that make you do more work. Not simple solutions

Well then thats a step backwards

I'd argue that it's a step forward for a significant majority of iTunes users, and only a step back for some. While that may not be best for you, it's probably the best overall direction. Most people who want to actively DJ will use a separate program anyway.
