What iTunes 11 says about the future of Apples UI design.
-Brighter more modern design UI.
-Usability over sexyness (coverflow)
-Re-redesigned music app for iPads. (much needed)

-return to color icons in side bars (yay!)
-bolder font in side bar
-revised plus and gear symbols in the lower left of the status bar

Many times over the history of OS X, iTunes was used to debut new UI changes coming up in the next OS X release. I suspect these designs are a preview to 10.9 UI redesign.

i dont think how i have no way of pasting album art in now, now i have to save it to desktop and open up the file and do it manually

was a time saver...

with forstall gone and ive now in more control, i wouldnt hold my breath on this being the final vision for OSX

Safari doesn't do that on 10.8.2. Are you sure that it wasn't an old feature that finally got removed?

It does if you have the "Double-click a window's title bar to minimize" option checked in System Preferences->Dock. I don't have iTunes11 so I don't know if it isn't working for this person because they don't have this option enabled or it is broken in iT11.

I like everything but I normally had album art in the bottom left corner. Is there any way to get that back?

See post #1147 on the previous page. When you click on the album cover in the title bar it opens in a separate window, which you can put anywhere you want.

one bonus behind this is that I just restarted my library about 2 weeks ago and have been slowly re-adding. Deleting things I dont want, etc. So I get to see how and what all the tags I have that need work.

To what? iMedia? iHub? Unless you can come up with a name that doesn't suck, it would seem wiser to just stick with the old iTunes.
Not a fan of iHub, but iMedia could work. iPlay? iCenter? iCore? iWorld? iUniverse (AT&T wouldn't like that)? Or maybe even use a symbol: i:apple:

Also, do they have to keep the "i"? It seems like most of their "i" products are hardware. iTunes is the only one that's software. iOS doesn't count. I realize most people are just used to the name now and I know it's a very minor thing, but the "Tunes" moniker and icon just doesn't seem to fit anymore.

Sorry but I totally disagree with you on this. Having an entire sidebar dedicated to playlists just so you can save a click if you're watching videos? or in the store? those are two different sections, this is designed for Music. That's a lot of wasted space 24/7 to save you 1 click in the off chance you were in 2 less frequently used modes.

Except the "entire bar" is not dedicated to just playlists... it has the following:

Music
Movies
TV Shows

iTunes Store
Purchased

Home Sharing

Genius

Playlists....

but yeah, we can agree to disagree :)

This update is somewhat disappointing. Not much has improved except for some superficial UI changes. And one major annoyance is still there: It is still not possible to cancel unwanted downloads for good. I currently have about 30 TV show downloads in the queue that I don't want (because I have streamed them on my Apple TV, already downloaded them manually, or they are simply bonus material that I'm not interested in). I can delete them from the download list, but every time I sign into my store account, they return like zombies from their graves and are restarted. I guess I have to download 30GB for nothing to get rid of them.

Good point. Keep the "i"s for hardware, and give us a new program name. Only problem is the "iTunes Store" is widely recognized now, so that needs renaming too. Dunno, seems pretty unimportant either way.

I guess it makes sense with content from Apple, but what about my digital copy from BluRay/DVDs. I wonder if I have a copy on my iPad, or use home sharing if it will still remember it.

Update: Just tried ripping DVD to iTunes, and Played..... it still Resumed fine..

I can click "all artists" to get a by-album view, but the albums within a particular artist are sorted alphabetically by name, not year, and there appears to be no way to force iTunes to sort them by year.

If you go to the Genres view, and click on a Genre, the albums are ordered only by name and aren't grouped by artist or ordered by year.

Well...I'm mostly happy with the update except for the fact that Genius will not even make it past gathering my library information and no longer works.

Not sure if this has been found yet... Any way to open a second window? Before you just double-clicked on the left bar.

Basically want to go through music and look at the store at the same time.

Anyone know why the bottom album has artist names under the track titles but the top doesn't? They are both setup the same way(including artist name and album artist names)

Not sure but I think they might have sped up the syncing process as well. My iPhone 3GS synced a lot faster than usual on iTunes 11.

I like the expanded album view thing, but if you mean like the icons, and buttons and ****, then Apple BETTER ****ing not bring this **** to OS X.

BTW, is it just me or is Apple just calling it "iTunes" ? I didn't see any iTunes 11 anywhere on Apple's site.

Well, my first thought was you had set the Album Artist thing, but apparently not. so maybe it's because iTunes only has the bottom album in their store, and they're using that info?
