Ok, I was REALLY hoping that Apple had fixed the MISSING ALBUM covers when you transfer to IPhone or IPad... but NOPE! Now it's even more tedious to copy and paste album cover so that it appears on my iphone...

Sigh, seriously, why wasn't this fixed!
That problem was immediately fixed for me months ago by simply unchecking "sync music", syncing, then re-checking and syncing.

Oh yes, one of the literally dozens of fixes that do and don't work for everyone. This one didn't do anything to fix the problem on my end.

In Mini-player mode, if you double-click the album art, you get a player that shows the album (you can size it any size you like from the corner). Close the mini player by clicking the "X" and just the album art player will be on the desktop.

1) I know the store has been (VERY) buggy but didn't a three-finger swipe used to take you forward/backward in navigation?

2) Is there a way to get to Playlists without going to Music first? I'm trying the whole sans-sidebar thing but I have playlists that are made up of media other than music.

I know what you're talking about because I use it a lot too. Not sure why Apple would remove such a thing (probably because it's not iOS-like  ) but as an alternative, you could try using command+M which minimizes the front window.

Just curious: what OS version are you on? I'm on 10.7.5 and it works for me.

The double click to minimize works for you? Hmmm, damn. Lucky. I'm on 10.8.2.

Can you double click anywhere in the top grey portion of iTunes and have it minimize on yours?

i was able to do that just fine on my imac.

please share: how did you do it?

I can only have the visualizer either take on the main iTunes window (instead of the music, but still with the control header), or, in Full Screen Mode... but I cant have it in a separate window without the header...

thanks...

Safari doesn't do that on 10.8.2. Are you sure that it wasn't an old feature that finally got removed?

I'm on 10.8.2 and Safari does actually minimize on double click. You change the system-wide setting for that in the 'Dock' settings under System Preferences.

iTunes 11 does not.

What iTunes 11 says about the future of Apples UI design.
-Brighter more modern design UI.
-Usability over sexyness (coverflow)
-Re-redesigned music app for iPads. (much needed)

iTunes used to have other visualizers that were different then the current (and "classic") visualizers that are included now. It was around iTunes 7 or 8 I think. Why did Apple take them away?? I thought they were pretty good.

I agree in general, you can see the direction and some improvements. However there are a few UI elements which are less usable than the previous.

1) Having the traditional sidebar open along with the new design is much more user-friendly and faster to access everything.

2) The lack of speaker icons which imply "volume low/off" and "volume high/max" beside the volume slider is a stupid usability blunder and the spacing between the volume rocker and buttons is horrible. The Airplay button should be to the right of the 'display LCD'

3) The window design is inconsistent from just about every other OSX application where you have a small area that is both a 'Title Bar' and holds the window control buttons on the far left and right. iTunes does away with this and breaks consistency by bumping physically active parts of the program up to where there would traditionally be a Title (iTunes).

I do like the new gradient on the player, and I do like the brighter more modern look of the player window itself however. The use of lightly patterned backgrounds is nice too.

it's only faster to access playlists, which are available to open with 2 clicks, and available to drag and drop with one

its a waste of space to save one click that you may not even use often at all. it was bad design before.

you're reaching. doesnt affect usability in any way, and the placement has no real affect on flow or spacing or anything, really.

Anyone figure out how to add custom artwork to albums? I'm not able to add my own artwork to albums.

Nevermind, I guess it worked. There doesn't seem to be a plus sign when dragging an image to the list of songs in an album. It didn't apply right away but the custom artwork is showing now.

More than 1 click. Try surfing the iTunes store, and going back to your library etc. or switching quickly between that and your movies/music etc. Still more efficient to have the combination of the new design plus the sidebar which they didn't ignore either by updating the icons.

It might be a slight reach, but it's still something that can be improved that's for sure.

That's a good point (assuming Apple is listening of course!) - however posting these complaints on this forum is still very helpful for folks like me who don't want to get a nasty surprise when they upgrade. And make no mistake, having cover flow mode taken away is a VERY nasty surprise to anyone with a large music collection.

I won't be touching this upgrade until cover flow comes back, which worries me because I want to keep up with new Apple devices but could not easily manage my music database without having a list view with artwork visible.

You know WHY i like the complainers here or in any forum? I copy and paste them and post it in feedback about what is needed to be fixed.

Has anybody found out how to open a playlist in a separate window? this feature seems missing now...

jailbreak

For those who have jailbroken iphones, have you experienced any issues syncing your phone after upgrading to itunes 11?

I haven't upgraded my itunes yet, so I just wanted to know first if it was safe to upgrade so I don't lose any syncing capabilities, etc.

I have not updated yet, but if it's true that there is no way to get the album art back in the lower left corner that is a deal breaker for me. WTF Apple?

Wow. A dealbreaker?

Have not have had much time playing with iTunes 11, mostly like it so far, but in the store there are still some problems. When you search for some artists, it will show you some of their albums, songs etc. but the artist does not feature in the 'Artist' link on the right. That means you can't see their artist info, gallery etc. Those artist pages exist though, but you can only find them by searching for related artists and see under 'related artists' on their site.
This is very complicated to explain, but I hope you know what I mean.

Sorry but I totally disagree with you on this. Having an entire sidebar dedicated to playlists just so you can save a click if you're watching videos? or in the store? those are two different sections, this is designed for Music. That's a lot of wasted space 24/7 to save you 1 click in the off chance you were in 2 less frequently used modes.

Hey thanks- at least I can access the artwork now (but WHY doesn't this appear when you click an album?)

My guess here is that when you get info mainly checks looks at the individual tracks, wether or not they are albums. So when you say, hey, show me the info for the this selection of tracks so I can change it, iTunes say, ok, here you go --even if those tracks were all from the same album, iTunes can't tell if the album art in each track matches the others, so it just gives you a blank box for overwriting them all. But when you select a single track it is able to provide the image since you are only looking at one song.

That's just my guess -- it might not be correct. ;)
