I think I'm just gonna hold steady on 12.2.0.

I'm having massive issues with restoring iPhones on this release, both iOS 10.1 and 10.1.1 give errors. Hopefully I don't have to dig out the previous version.

If you installed the latest macOS update... pre new beta, there was a glitch that it didn't update iTunes for everyone. Some had no issues, other's saw it not being installed and disappeared from the install list. This was verified by going to iTunes after the macOS install and clicking on check for updates, it would list a new iTunes update instead of having it already installed. This new version also fixes this.

Guess you're not updating to iOS 10 any time soon then. If I discover that, contrary to Apple's insistence, devices running iOS 10 CAN be managed from pre-12.5 versions of iTunes, then your smugness will most certainly be justified.

It's a bad sign that I now, by default, strive to find every way I can to delay updating all Apple software, including the OS.

To clarify a bit, I only don't update iTunes on my Macbook, but you definitely bring up a good point. My most probable strategy would be to use iTunes on my PC if I had an iOS device that needed iTunes' assistance. My iPod is only on iOS 4 (I think) so it does just fine. :p

I'm having problems of crashes with iTunes Match as posted here:- https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/itunes-12-5-3-match-crashes.2011509/

I'm going to try a roll back to 12.5.2 via Time Machine. Has anybody got some instructions for doing so easily?

Same crash happening for me too! Any way to turn off Match? I am subscribed to both Match and Apple Music and I think that we no longer need Match. Won't the Apple Music subscription also copy songs and playlists to all devices and computers?

What worked for me is to copy the 12.5.2 from my Time Machine to the Applications folder inside my home folder (/Users/username/Application), and execute that iTunes instances in stead of the one in /Applications.

Maybe someone included a graphic showing the next iPhone and Apple thought to check their apps for product leaks after the MacBook with touch bar was leaked in a macOS update.

Stupid pink microphone icons on Artists view is still there. Obviously Apple does not even think that this is a bug. I am still using the original 12.5 (12.5.0.158) that came with the first release of Sierra which does not exhibit this problem and I refuse to upgrade.

Apple today released iTunes 12.5.3, which is available for macOS Sierra and OS X El Capitan users.

Why does MR keep doing this?

From the iTunes download page you link to yourselves:

iTunes Download Page said:
Software:
  • OS X version 10.9.5 or later
So it's available to Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan and Sierra users. But this isn't the first time MR has worded an article that makes it sound like software might be unavailable to users of older OS versions. Surely it would be better to be accurate about it, or else not mention which OS versions at all, rather than the possibly misleading partial list?

Given all of the quirks introduced in the past year, I don't think they bother testing anything that isn't directly related to Apple Music.
Definitely not the Android app though. I just don't think they bother testing anything, they just release alpha/beta versions, then fix them some time later (while breaking other things, in case of iTunes).

The Android app is far from perfect but it is much more stable then it was when it was in beta and it is frequently updated. The only issue is that it still did not get the new UI.

Keeps crashing on my machines and a friends also, great work Apple..

Tried the following:

1. Safe Boot then Re-Install
2. Stop Procces iTunes Helper then Re-Install
3. Terminal->sudo /usr/libexec/repair_packages --repair --standard-pkgs --volume /

p.s. I don't have Time Machine Backup

As far as changes go, at least on Windows, star ratings are back and they tweaked the Preferences section a bit. No new options, just split the Store and Downloads options.

Perhaps you're confused -- star ratings never left iTunes (iOS yes, but not iTunes). There's been an option in iTunes to show/hide Star ratings for some time now, so perhaps you had it OFF at some point?

I never even tried the beta, having read what people think about it. Then I paid for one month to see what happens. First crash was when I was entering my login and password. Second when I managed to see "For You" for a split second, then bang. Then it got stuck downloading something. Then I was done.

I saw that it's getting updated quite often, maybe it manages gapless playback in a year or two and then I'll try again.

12.5.3 crashes not stop. I would advise against installing it. A quick search shows it's a problem. I'm on the latest update 10.12.1 and had to reinstall 12.5.2. I've never had such a bad version of an iTunes update that rendered it useless before. The reinstall though did resolve another problem of Apple TV 3rd Gen not recognizing that home sharing was on. At least the aggravation was worth it to have a fully functioning Apple TV back.
