Repairing permissions for me is like having a lucky baseball cap, it's a placebo...

I have no idea if it does anything, but I do it anyway.

When I first installed iTunes 7, I :

-repaired permissions
-restarted
-installed new Quicktime, repaired permissions
-restarted
-installed new iTunes
-repaired permissions
-restarted

And I've had no problems what so ever.

I imagine I'll do the same thing with this update, pointless? Maybe, but I'm still gonna do it.

airtunes hickups and speedup when streaming mp3radio

this problems stays after the update

Well, you know you could do the smart thing and upgrade to a Mac.

Helpful comment :p There's only so many things you can afford as a gap year student. Believe me, I'm saving for a macbook (hopefully pro).

The fact still remains that this version of iTunes (initially) took as many steps back as it did forwards.

Does anyone really (seriously) like the new scollbars?

I *hate* the horrid scrollbars. Why and who decided to do this change? I cannot see how this would pass Steve's UI test. It seems like many times iTunes is the testbed for new OS X UI updates for the future. But this is one I godly hope never makes it into OS X. If I had an interface like this on the Finder or any other app, I would puke. It is almost as if it's a joke, I thought version 7.01 would "fix" this. But no. Am I really all that alone here? Is there anyone on this board that actually likes the new scrollbar look?

Repairing permissions doesn't yield results each time the way it used to do, since they quieted the special permissions lines, but I find certain software such as iTunes always requiring repairing.

I had one third party application cut off write capabilities in the /Applications folder, which was interesting, but the same installation on this machine doesn't have the same problem. :D

We'll see if iTunes version 7.0.1 deletes certain music from the iPod. I hope it does things properly.

Yeah, I've also been experiencing this, but only with certain streams.
indeed some streams work fine, most don't

I have sent in a report to apple.
Could we join forces to find people with the same problem and find a fix?

I try not to complain too much about macs, leaving it to more qualified folks. But yes, the scroll bars are horrid.

The stations I usually listen to (a bit of a mix) are about half and half. In the electronica section, friskyRadio, for example, doesn't play properly, but Proton Radio works fine. Seems almost like a timing issue, as frisky does play, but sounds really choppy and, alternately, sped up.

I havent installed it yet (still using iTunes 6) and i have a feeling its still unstable. Anyways i'm waiting for 10.4.8 so i can do a complete system re-install as i like to do every several months. Then i'll update to iTunes 7.0.1.

Those are interesting, in that they reference TV shows and videos which I don't think are available on current iTunes-enabled phones.

Thats what I was thinking too. I did notice the new Aperture settings, that make since that you can now put then on the iPod like you can with iPhoto, that was announced monday. Im not sure which phone it is referring to, however none of them play TV shows that work with iTunes (that I could find anyway).

EDIT TO ADD:

The odd thing is, I opened the file with BBedit which remembers exactly where the file was edited the last time it was opened and moves the curser to that spot (Apple used BBedit?) and it was right on the Phone area, which leads me to believe they added that to the file last - why they did is anyones guess.

SECOND EDIT:

It appears it also has games that can be used on the phone. It also references finding songs on the phone that are not on your computer and putting them on the computer. It then has an option that says the song can not be put on the computer until you authorize the phone on the computer (Im guessing you can buy songs on the phone, download them to the phone, and then put them on your computer... wow...).

Is anyone else still having problems with the scrollbars? If I click towards the bottom of the bar to drag it, iTunes automatically skips to that position in the menu, as if I am clicking through it.

There are still two problems (for me) that did not get fixed.

1) When playing normally in shuffle, and while using an app. other than iTunes, and a video gets played, it still goes to fullscreen. This should only happen when the video gets played and the user is in iTunes. This issue does not happen all the time for me, nor does it happen only with certain videos. Its annoying.

2) When you press escape from a fullscreen video, the video shoud then be played in the bottom left hand corner. For me, its not. I can either see the video by playing it fullscreen or in a separate window, but it wont get shown in the little window built in. Again, annoying.

These things happen to anyone else?

I feel a wave of software updates coming out of Cuppertino!

iTunes, OS X, the .mac email changes. More goodness!!!:)

There will be no software update download for .Mac mail...it's the web version that is being updated.

Don't like it either. I went back to iTunes 6. I like it better and I can still purchase music which is all I care about with this.:)

That was rather quick, although I haven't had any issue with iTunes 7 on PPC Macs.
either have I, though version 7 is missing some cool features I liked in version 6... I hope I don't have to wait for iTunes 8 to get back my visualizer prefs!

I've had a few very minor issues, hopefully this will sort them al out. Hooray for updates! :)

Pretty nice update Apple released for iTunes 7. The coverflow scrolling looks smooth and no serious hiccups on the CPU activity when scrolling coverflow. The iTunes is a RAM hogger only when the coverflow is on. With coverflow on, it eats an additional 70MB. Otherwise, most of the features work smoothly.

My iTunes uses up to 170MB more memory with coverflow on!

Ah, excellent, this is (presumably, hopefully) the update I was waiting for, since I was purposely holding back form upgrading to 7.0. Now I can upgrade from iTunes 6 with little worry!

It's much less of a CPU hog on my iMac G5 and hasn't crashed yet. 7.0 would have crashed three or four times during this evening's use. Haven't tried ripping a CD yet, so can't report back on whether that's up to full speed again, but all in all so far a good update.
