So now fellas, go and check all the stings in there. There must be some kind of references to something.

it showed up fine in software update for me (i'm in the UK), although now iTunes is spending an age "Updating iTunes Library" :-/

Looks like they elaborated on the whole you can't use iTunes to make nuclear weapons thing...

(Sorry for the CAPS but thats how Apple has it in there Legal jargon and I'm not retyping it)

Section 3: "THE APPLE SOFTWARE IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN THE OPERATION OF NUCLEAR FACILITIES, AIRCRAFT NAVIGATION OR COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS, LIFE SUPPORT MACHINES OR OTHER EQUIPMENT IN WHICH THE FAILURE OF THE APPLE SOFTWARE COULD LEAD TO DEATH, PERSONAL INJURY, OR SEVERE PHYSICAL OR ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE."

And yes... iTunes feels snappier.

Hopefully this fixes the syncing issues with my Apple TV that I've been having since 8.1.1 was installed.

No kidding! I thought I was the only one with weird syncing issues! Looks like the update will fill some cracks and pave the way for 3.0!

Bring it on!

:apple:

I hope they've fixed the way Quicktime handles streaming from a home server. Whenever my wireless connection provides insufficient bandwidth it keeps playing displaying a black screen. Would be much better to wait and buffer...

I suspect the original plan was for 3.0 to come out with the new hardware (probably in July).

But now I'm wondering if Apple is expecting a bunch of "iPhone vs. the Pre" articles to be written and want the 3.0 software in people's hands before that happens.

Imagine 1,000 websites with this on it:
Cut and Paste:
Pre - Yes
iPhone - No

...that won't get changed in July when 3.0 comes out! Perhaps Apple is hoping to avoid that by speeding things up and getting 3.0 out now?

Bet this update breaks Palm Pre syncing!

wasn't 3.0 slated for a June release from the beginning? Could have sworn I heard that.

Mine spent about 45 minutes "Updating iTunes Library" but I am pretty sure it was because I have over 200 movies on an external HD that it had to check wirelessly.

Not sure what it did update. Though it only needed like 10 sec for my 140GB worth of music. Almost no videos though and it was the local disc.

If it makes things snappier than I am for it!

Lol. I never knew about that. That is freaking hilarious. In other words: We're good, but not that good :D

But then again, does a nuclear reactor really need to be "rocking out" to iTunes muzac?

In System Preferences>QuickTime, under the Streaming tab, you should uncheck the box that says "Enable Instant-On". This could fix the black screen you're experiencing.
