I'm with you on this one!
MiniPlayer should have it's own button.
I don't like how the zoom button works differently in every app.

It would be simple just to have a setting where you can choose whether you want the zoom to make it bigger and smaller or make it the miniplayer. i personally like the miniplayer but give people the option

Unbelievable!

I cannot believe the smart playlist syncing with iPhone 3G problem is still not fixed with this iTunes update. I'm starting to be really disappointed at Apple. It's pretty major bug and many people are complaining about it. :(

Give me a music videos category and get those videos away from my music!!!

So true. To get round it, I select all my music videos, go to File>Get Info, select the Options tab, and change the Media Kind to "Film" (Movie in the USA I guess). Obviously they then move to my Films folder which isn't ideal, but at least they're not with my music.

Maybe off topic...

...but still related:

I just bought the iPhone a couple of months ago. No matter what I try in iTunes, I can't MANUALLY drag the songs I want. It's either sync all or make a playlist.

Apple can't have disabled this feature, can they? I used to do it all the time with my older iPods.

thanks

Call me crazy, but I was happy they finally fixed the stupid green button, and I'm kind of annoyed they broke it again. Oh well, they seem to have a corporate policy of making that button the most useless feature of OSX.

FYI, option click on the green button "zooms" the window. And I use that term loosely, it doesn't maximize it but instead sets it to some useless arbitrary size.

Still ****** full screen cover flow

something i have been wanting since the first iPhone came out was for iTunes, in full-screen cover flow for it to act like the iPhone (being able to click the album cover and it to flick over and show songs) release it already... i think Apple is slowly turning into a more expensive Microsoft.... disappointed

Not Everything...

For me, ever since 9.0, itunes seems to occasionaly get choppy when playing through my remote speakers (Airport Express Hook-up). I'm not sure what changed, but I have to switch songs or cause some sort of event chage to make it play regularly again.

2. I hope that Apple's developer is smart enough to disable Checking software updates twice...WTF...do you need to check for software updates twice...
I check for updates in iTune and when I click "Download itunes" it checks again...Waste of time and resources....Apple please fix.
this is not a bug, this is done on purpose. sometimes apple will release updates for several components at the same time, and one relies on the other and one has to be installed first before you can install the other. software update checks for updates again to see if there are any more updates that can be installed now that you've just done an update.

Better yet, let us create our own, sure we have playlists but be nice to have our own custom categories too

"Home Movies" would be a logical category. Can't believe they still haven't added that as of iTunes 9.

I've made mine into a "TV show" so I can tag and sort them by "Season" using the year, "Month" by using disc number, and order them by episode number. Funny at virtually every keynote they show these great home videos imported from digicams and edited with iMovie, but the default behavior when they get to iTunes (then to :apple:TV) is to be just mixed in with your Hollywood feature films.

Gracenote

Has anyone else found that accessing CD track info automatically via Gracenote has become very hit and miss since 9.01 - and I mean largely (90%) miss? You put in a CD, it thinks for a long time, and then tells you the CD information isn't available, do you still want to import?

Why not use a smart playlist? Is the problem that they're with your music, or that you can't see just them on their own?

Thanks Apple

Ever since I got an Apple device it seems that all I ever to is update software and firmware...Just spend a little more time testing and getting it right, rather than inundating us with update after update after update...

... and iTunes 9.0.1 still doesn't like having to send music data on 240GB of music :)eek:)...

that is insane. did you download every single song from the itunes store? rob a walmart? or do you just bittorent like 10GB of music a month? haha

but on a serious note, is this thing finally stable? I've read 3434232493 people talk about the stupid mini-player / green button ordeal, but nobody has mentioned if it stops crashing/hanging up. with 9.0 i can't even scroll through my albums in cover flow without it hanging up for a few minutes! what's the 411 on that?

Every time you see a software update appear repeat the following five words v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.

I am not a hampster.

Substitute "lemming" for "hampster" if it's more *you*. Then embrace your freedom of choice.

Stop licking one bone and picking at the other: choose one and chow down...

I'm annoyed that they broke the zoom button. I was glad that iTunes 9 finally fixed it. They should give the mini player it's own button. Don't mess up the zoom button.

In iTunes click on the picture of your iPhone. On the Summary tab (main tab) click the option that says MANUALLY manage music and videos.

Problem solved. You also could have found the answer to this in 10 seconds doing a Google search or a search of these forums.

Hmmmm. I didn't know it was possible to do that. I'll try it when I get home.

Agreed. And people who are defending that it should switch to the mini player are not thinking it through. The "Zoom" button has a (more or less) consistent function throughout the entire system and it's completely incoherent when in one particular application it does the opposite.

Press the "plus" green sign and it "minimizes" into the mini player? WTF?

It makes no sense at all from a GUI design point of view.

IMO Apple should just remake the "zoom" function because it's the most unused control in OSX. They should remake it so it switches into a fullscreen view (black overlay over the rest of the UI, kinda like fullscreen works on Pages. It's different from maximizing).

Call it the "focus" mode so it doesn't sound too "Windows"

Just when I was getting use to the option green button senario… well glad to see the one green button back for mini player.....

Thanks Apple

Ugh. And this is how Apple works. They take away something and then give it back or put something in that SHOULD have been there and we get all excited about it. But damnit it works.

Nice (and quick) update.

I never really used the Mini Player. I just use Cover Stream to control iTunes when it's hidden. Still prefered the black background, but I can adapt.

But, nice to have the multi-disc sorting issue resolved. Going from Back in the USSR to Birthday is disconcerting. ;)
