Apple just released separate firmware updates for AEBSn and AEXn. You need to use the airport utility to update them. The updates fix MANY problems :)

I've just noticed a pretty alarming problem with my Penryn Blackbook - when I scroll using the trackpad, I get a weird noise from the left side of the machine. It sounds like a darlek's been trapped there.

It's barely noticeable, unless you sit up with your laptop in bed reading long pages of text, which I do quite a lot. This didn't happen yesterday.

Anyone else getting it?

this broke hotcorners for me, permissions check and repair later (btw is there any auto scheduling tool to do this as a background process everynow and then? - would be handy) and a restart and it's all good.

Overall, I see little, if any, changes between .3 and .4. Of course, I never had any issues with Leopard to begin with, so that must be why.

10.5.4 here...

my cpu seems to be idling much lower.

used to be about 54, now it says 44c

interesting.

If you haven't mentioned that, I wouldn't have looked. Seems like the entire row of degrees (in istat) has taken a tumble.

Perhaps the people on MBAs won't have core shutdowns so easily now.

Anyway, a cooler computer is nice.

I don't think so, maybe it is.

I was looking in Core Services' icons when I had 10.5.3 and couldn't find an iPod touch icon.
There was a touch icon in .3, at least for me. And I believe it's the same icon. Frankly, it was long overdue, as the touch was available by the time Leopard was released.

Interesting... Has anybody else's Mac started to run cooler after the 10.5.4 update?

Actually, I think it ws a fluke. At the time I was charging the battery, with 5 percent to go (i.e. at 95 percent), now, with 1 percent to go, it's back up at 53-54. So, sorry if you guys got your hopes up – if it's any consolation, so did I – I hate fans (as in the revolving, whirring sort of thing).

Edit: I'm on a 2.33 MBP.
