I had no problem whatsoever when installing this update to my 2008 iMac.

I haven't done my 2006 MP or 2009 Mac Mini yet, but I'll let you all know.

Hey there,

I have the same problem...

I have the same problem so I used the link on the Macrumors article for the 10.5.7 update. When it was time to restart however, I clicked the Restart button on the installer and it just greyed out but didn't actually restart the computer. I had to hold the power button on my Early Macbook Pro, my computer restarted twice and went smooth from there.

Also, Safari 4 is finally compatible with Hotmail! No more switching to Firefox.

Just installed 10.5.7 on my Macbook Air with Safari beta update. 15 minute download 2 minute install No issues whatsoever. I don't know why some of you are having issues. It's got to be your setup.

OMG thank you, apple! I've been waiting for a long time for a Safari 4 update. It has been crashing at least 10 times a day. I was losing my mind! Let's hope the update fixes the crashing problem.

You do realize you're using BETA software, right?

verisign.com?

Anyone else with Little Snitch notice your Macs trying to connect to verisign.com after the update?

So... my Mac Pro froze when it was installing, when it said, "Running Installer Script." So I manually shut down and restarted. Then when I went to "About This Mac", it says that I have 10.5.7. How do I know whether or not the update really worked or not... ?

All is well here.

Downloaded the Combo from Apple and installed on my 2008 Mac Pro without any issues.

Took about five minutes from beginning to end.

... and I know the snappy thing is a running joke but, honestly, web pages load significantly faster for me in the new 3.2.3 version of Safari. The one or two second "pause" that I'd get before a page would even begin to load is gone. Pages now load instantly.

Possible Fix for Error Message

Possible fix for error message. I got it too and tried to d-load twice, no go. I restarted and emptied my trash (10.5.7 packages were in there, not sure if that mattered) and tried d-loading it again and worked no problems.

Hope that helps all of you with the error message.

Man, I wonder what happened? Apple seems to have really dropped the ball this time. Especially after spending so much stinkin time on this update!!

I've managed to pull of a decent enough look on the resolution now, but the text is vague and blurry, but some edges are good though. It's the weirdest thing I've seen an OS break in a long time.

I'm wondering if apple is going to do a quick and silent update so no one knows, (meaning within the next 6 hours), or they'll do a patch which we'll have to wait 2 months for.

Which ever way they'll go we're stuck with this for a while, that's the usual routine. And then people wonder why MacOS 10.6 is going to be a hard sell with now visible updates and a potentially dangerous update to machines that might not end up in the best shape afterwards.

I'm loosing faith in Apple.... AND fast...

They're not doing any justice in their OS... it's all about the iPhone and iTunes now... the rest it seems is not important. Like my MacBook Pro with the faulty Graphics card that they FINALLY admitted after a year! Only because Nvidia was out saying they had a series of graphic cards that were faulty. Those happened to end up in the MacBook Pro. Why else do you think the MacBook Pro Santa Rosa came with two different Graphic Cards? One was ATI and the other NVidia, oh and then there were the messy situation with the Samsung LCD screens in that series too... What a mess... it really feels like they've given up on Computers.

I'm confused as to why people are installing the 10.5.7 update and then the Safari update when 10.5.7 included the Safari update.

Just had Safari crash on me dumping 7 tabs :(

Use the 'reopen all windows from last session' button in the history tab at the top. not perfect but better than reopening everything yourself.

edit
Aristotle : We are using the safari 4 beta. Not Safari 3.

Battery menu did not update for me either when I updated to 10.5.7. What can I do to get it to work. Why didn't the menu update?

Some of you might want to wait on this.. Theres a lot of different problems with it. Either downloading it in the first place, or with installing it, or trying to apply other updates after installing it.
Both my Macs locked up part way through the initial reboot and had to be force shut down. And even then, neither of them started up cleanly afterwards.

And thats just the short of it..

I also experienced this problem with one of our Macs (Mac Pro). I rebooted the Mac using a backup drive clone of my Mac Pro Macintosh HD drive and re-ran the combo update on the Macintosh HD drive, rebooted from the Macintosh HD drive, and now everything is fine.

whats weird is my UMBP is running much hotter than it normally does under the same amount of applications and work load wonder what kind of tweaks were done
