Safari 4 is still rubbish. Msn typing issue is still there. Urgh. I want faster Java-ness and stuffs without having to re-click the damn text box everytime I want to talk to a friend. =(

And no, I'm not using another client, don't like them

Thank you for the update I appreciate that insight. Looks I will continue holding off on updating to Safari 4. Or by the looks of all of the drama in this thread, postponing updates from Apple in general!

HOLY COW! 1.3GB to install!

After downloading manually off from apple.com's site for 10.5.7 (single, not combo update) then after un-zipping, the dialog required 1.3 GB to install.... freakin' weird!

Your mom wouldn't like that, either :-\

Spoke too soon

I was one the people reporting no problems on the update.

Turns out I spoke too soon. I though the Spotlight re-indexing was a one time thing that I might have interrupted, but in the past few hours, it's turned into a full fledged ... THING. On every reboot after the update, Spotlight would reindex and it kept taking longer and longer.

Right now, I'm in the middle of rebuilding my entire Spotlight index because I couldn't track down the culprit with the console. Next step, single user mode...

Guess this update really is turning out to be a pain in the ass.

no problems for me so far.

But people who are complaining about problems - I hope you wern't the same people that were complaining throughout April that this update was taking so long ... maybe if you hadn't rushed them

I'm disappointed. I just reinstalled OSX from scratch and then applied the combo update thinking it would fix the power settings menu problem... but it didn't. Any other suggestions guys? It seems like there's been two cases of the power settings not appearing in the menu bar so far.

I don't have the power settings either. I have the unibody MBP, I downloaded the update from apple.com, and I had to to the hard shutdown due to the repeating blue screen.

I said this in the other thread, but that doesn't exist anymore, so:

I wish the Safari 4 Beta update was something more substantial. I've had a fair share of bugs with it, not to mention crashes, and the browser comes to an absolute halt if it encounters any animated GIFs online. But instead after this long of a period, all we get is a security update.

I got the power settings, also had to hard restart after downloading the combo update from the Apple website. The software updater kept on getting errors. Works fine now.

Santa Rosa MBP

I just wanted to point out that on my Santa Rosa MBP I don't have any more "jaggy minimization" when I am streaming video from Hulu or youtube. However, when I am running a movie in quicktime, UI functions slow somewhat, but not a lot.

Here's to hoping Snow Leopard with make the UI smoother. When I run Vista, or Windows 7 on this machine it is smooth.

No Problems Here

I down loaded 10.5.7 in approximately 45 minutes, ~150kBs, which is rather fast for my 3G ATT cellular broadband (can't wait for 4G). Installed, rebooted twice. When up seemed a bit snappier. Installed the companion Safari 4, again no problems, a little snappier. Furthermore, my two external hard drives were picked up with no problem. I'm a satisfied customer. So, question, is this the last update before Snow Leopard (10.6.x)?

:):)

Wow, I hate to read so many of you had problems. I may wait it out a few days before applying the updates. :(

whats weird is my UMBP is running much hotter than it normally does under the same amount of applications and work load wonder what kind of tweaks were done

I noticed that too. There is a process called "WindowServer" that's using more processor power than it did before.

My computer also seems to be slowing down after about an hour of use.

I've just had bad experience with Safari. I've been using the Developer preview since it came out. The updates they released after it weren't stable at all. Safari 3.2.1 was terrible too. Crashed whenever I opened a new tab.

Here's hoping to a better future!

has anyone noticed on a reboot, their lcd flickers on the left and right side of the screen? not sure if it's related to this update. happens on alum macbook.

First ever kernal panic. Can someone point me in the direction as how to resolve this. The screen say to restart and I have multiple times along with inserting the install disk. I would appreciate the help.

Ok I've fixed my resolution... kind of...

It's now 98% identical to what it used to be... But Oh my GOD, it's pathetic that I had to write a new profile for the OS to recognize my Samsung TV. It used to understand it without any problem. It was all plug and play and now in the at 5am I had to learn how to write a frakkin' monitor resolution just to wake up without a nagging feeling that I'll have to get back to a problem I'll be spending most of my day trying to correct.

Thanks Apple for wasting my time... I could have been doing my video editing instead... oh yeah I forgot... how could I? the screen was all screwy!

I'd love to say "Hey Steve Jobs! You reading this?!?!?", but like so many have pointed it out... He ain't listening anymore... we're dead to him... :(

Airport Fixed? I think so!

My download took no time at all. The MacBook is singing now with no problems that I can detect. Best of all...

Airport isn't dropping! I've had a constant connection since I downloaded .7!:D

Can it be true? Is the crappy airport issue at an end?!:apple:

The update is only 286 megs, not big at all. We have two Mac's, not sure if I will download it now or not.

EDIT: Also, don't blame Apple for this. Bad updates happen all the time. A big update on the PS3 completely screwed up some people's PS3's, and Sony had no idea about it. It's one thing to test an update on a few Mac's, another for every Mac in the world.
