I have the same problem so I used the link on the Macrumors article for the 10.5.7 update. When it was time to restart however, I clicked the Restart button on the installer and it just greyed out but didn't actually restart the computer. I had to hold the power button on my Early Macbook Pro, my computer restarted twice and went smooth from there.

Also, Safari 4 is finally compatible with Hotmail! No more switching to Firefox.

Yeah, my MacPro 2.66 wouldn't restart on its own either. I had to force a shut-down. That made me nervous. But it worked.

After updating to 10.5.7 my external USB hard drive is no longer recognized. Is anyone else having this problem?

Edit: It looks like external Buffalo hard drives currently don't work with 10.5.7. There are a few other people having the same issue at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9455184 (search for buffalo).

If you have an external Buffalo drive, do not install the update.

Yeah, this happened to me as well, now all my work and backups are stuck on 2 drives that I can no longer access!

My download finished in 7 minutes and my Mac Pro is running smooth as ever. I don't notice any differences so far. Meh.

Anyone else missing Software Update after install? :(

I downloaded 10.5.7 last night in four minutes and installed fine with the only hitch being two re-boots. This morning the new Safari 4 Beta went very quick. No problems.

No problems

I just got home from work and the download had already occurred, I just clicked accept to apply the updates, the machine restarted and was done in about a minute.

well i seem to be the only one having no problems at all, don't seem to notice any difference though?

I was getting the "... can't be saved." message last night (tried three times). It worked fine this morning on my 4 year old PowerBook G4.

My install hung!!!

Hey guys, my update is stuck on "Running Installer Script"... It's about 15% complete... The progress bar is "throbbing" so the computer's not frozen but clearly the install is not happening... My question, as this is the first time I've ever had a "bad" update is is it safe to turn off the Mac? Will my install be corrupted? Should I immediately try booting into safe mode and install the combo updater? Should I run Disk Fix?

Thanks for any advice!

I have a dead machine

Tried to install and was greeted with a kernal panic after. After trying to restart in safe mode my machine gets to the gray screen and shuts down after about 20 seconds. Just wonderful.

Unplug any usb devices and try again. Apparently the update also updates the USB drivers, so if you have anything plugged in, it could kernal panic.

Also to those wondering why the download sizes are different, the ~250 one is for those on 10.5.6, and the ~400+ one is for those on anything prior to 10.5.6

Alot of people are having problems with software update on this one, don't know why. Try downloading the update directly from Apples website. I think someone in here earlier restarted while it was running and didn't have any problems, though I don't know for sure.
