Yeah, my MacPro 2.66 wouldn't restart on its own either. I had to force a shut-down. That made me nervous. But it worked.
Yeah, this happened to me as well, now all my work and backups are stuck on 2 drives that I can no longer access!
I noticed that Hotmail was working on Safari 4 about a week ago. It made me so happy. I guess the problem was on Microsoft's side then.
I received the same message when I was attempting to download using a weak wireless connection. I figured it to be some sort of interruption in connection, so I plugged my ethernet cable in and attempted to download again. It worked on the second attempt.
Anyone else missing Software Update after install?

No problems at all for me. And is that how you do software updates? Weird...
Yep, that's the way I usually do it. But when I tried, nothing happened so I knew you could also do it by going to "About this Mac" under the Apple menu.
Downloading the Combo Update...
well i seem to be the only one having no problems at all, don't seem to notice any difference though?
Ah...i do it the other way because i hadn't noticed the SU option in the Apple menu...weird
I was getting the "... can't be saved." message last night (tried three times). It worked fine this morning on my 4 year old PowerBook G4.

With the increased popularity in Macs I think Apple needs to scale up their OS and application update fulfillment infrastructure.

Hey guys, my update is stuck on "Running Installer Script"... It's about 15% complete... The progress bar is "throbbing" so the computer's not frozen but clearly the install is not happening... My question, as this is the first time I've ever had a "bad" update is is it safe to turn off the Mac? Will my install be corrupted? Should I immediately try booting into safe mode and install the combo updater? Should I run Disk Fix?

I have a dead machine
Tried to install and was greeted with a kernal panic after. After trying to restart in safe mode my machine gets to the gray screen and shuts down after about 20 seconds. Just wonderful.

Unplug any usb devices and try again. Apparently the update also updates the USB drivers, so if you have anything plugged in, it could kernal panic.
Also to those wondering why the download sizes are different, the ~250 one is for those on 10.5.6, and the ~400+ one is for those on anything prior to 10.5.6
Alot of people are having problems with software update on this one, don't know why. Try downloading the update directly from Apples website. I think someone in here earlier restarted while it was running and didn't have any problems, though I don't know for sure.
