glad my update ran fine, I was one of the first to download, must have only been 3 comments on this thread and it took about 12 mins on a 8meg/s line, can't wait to get the virgin 50meb/s soon though!

Anyone else notice this with the new macbook, HD video playback is smoother than it was before, however, with a slight, and I mean very slight decrease of sharpness. You know, the oil painting effect.

...Also to those wondering why the download sizes are different, the ~250 one is for those on 10.5.6, and the ~400+ one is for those on anything prior to 10.5.6

I was on 10.5.6 and got the 449 update

I don't really get the praises for the combo updater. I get its usefulness but i've been doing an incremental update since as long as i can recall without issues

Those who issues with the incremental update usually have a corrupted preference or two, hacks installed or caches that need clearing.

The incremental update is not some spawn of the devil as people are making it out to be

still no graphics fix

Had a smooth enough install like all my updates, did have to force quit the finder after install as desktop wasn't appearing.
It didn't however fix the graphics tearing issue on my unibody mbp...
I guess it not too noticable, but come on guys! Fix it already!

Lost Apple TV connection!

Upgraded two machine and everything is cool except one machine can not see Apple TV in iTunes anymore. Anyone else have this issue?

I might try a combo reapply and reinstall iTunes.

Combo or not combo... Apple updates have been some spawn of the devil lately....with more bugs introduced than the one solved :p

I said this in the other thread, but that doesn't exist anymore, so:

I wish the Safari 4 Beta update was something more substantial. I've had a fair share of bugs with it, not to mention crashes, and the browser comes to an absolute halt if it encounters any animated GIFs online. But instead after this long of a period, all we get is a security update.

Well, I had crashing problems with Safari 3.2.1 too... :(
And I hope this update will stop my DVD Drive to try to burn at 47x by default (even when I specifically select to burn at 4x...)

PRETTY HUGE HUGE HUGE BUG... in that I have never witnessed this before.

My system, connected to external hard drive with 10.5.6 and 10.4 on it, bootable target disks.

Anyway, had open a .text edit document from 10.5.6 opened on 10.5.7 desk top. Tried to SAVE, document could NOT BE SAVED..... on 10.5.6 hard drive, fine saving on 10.5.7 desktop.

Not sure if this affects all types of files. WOW.

Will advise

WOW - worse than I thought, on some documents, like PAGES, they won't even open on 10.5.7.

This is HUGE, this is bad bad news I would update the OS, but I have tiger on one partition for a REASON.

Those documents won't open either.

How can this be?!?!?!

Can someone confirm?

Well, I installed the update.

It caused my Mail.app to completely reset (I got the 'Welcome to Mail" window), and so I had to re-add all of my email accounts and their settings to Mail. That was really annoying. WTF is that?

Really.

I have the same problem. After updating, I lost all my Email Accounts (2 Gmails, and 1 for school...) in the Mail Application. The only one left is the MobileMe account, which I never applied/used... Guess I'll have to re-add all of them again. It's gonna be a long process to update the Inbox and potentially screw up my email archive...

So this morning, I quit the Mail app and restarted it to see what would happen. Again, the Mail app is acting as if it is brand new, with no registered email accounts. WTH is going on?:confused:

any reason why this STILL doesn't show up on my late 2007 iMac? i run the software update and it keeps telling me that i'm up to date even though i'm running 10.5.6.

maybe i should consider myself lucky since everyone else is having issues with it anyway.

but are any other iMac owners having this issue? why isn't it showing up in software update?!?!?

So much for "I want a computer that does not give me headaches"... The number of people with update problems in this thread sheds a different light on Apple's latest ads.

my Pages documents created on 10.5.6 open fine on 10.5.7. I think this issue may be specific to your system... anyone else?

Hmm,

My Pages app and docs (iwork 2009) open and work fine. . .

but

I am having problems recognizing my external hard drive both by esata and usb. Of course, the hdd could just be bad and conveniently quit working as soon as I update, but I don't know. It is a seagate free agent pro. Anyone else with a similar problem? Thanks.

1. Install the Developer Tools
2. Open Quartz Debug
3. Open the Beam Sync tools
4. Click on "Force Beam Sync"
5. Force Quit Quartz Debug
6. Enjoy no tearing.

Note: You must force quit Quartz Debug for the setting to stick because Quartz Debug is set-up to revert to default upon quit... that in unless you force it to Quit.

Check your permissions...my update process was flawless as usual, and I have no issues to report...10-15min from download to finish.

How did you modify it may I ask? I am interested in having my gmail come to my apple mail box as well.

Find Mail.app in the Finder
Right click Mail
Click "Show Package Contents"
Open "Contents"
Open "Resources"
Modify the "app.icns" file
Kill the Dock or remove and re-add Mail to the Dock.

how would one uninstall the 10.5.7 update and go back to 10.5.6? There seems to be problems with iChat program working after the 10.5.7 update. anyone else having this problem???

So much for "I want a computer that does not give me headaches"... The number of people with update problems in this thread sheds a different light on Apple's latest ads.

Seeing as how the overwhelming majority had no problems whatsoever and usually never do with any of these updates, I think it's just a bit of a stretch to make such a statement. There are always going to be individual cases where problems arise, but it's hardly the norm for most.

I had done the tweek in the system to allow the 4-finger gestures on the original 2008 macbook pro with multitouch, after installing last night's update, i'm realizing that it has reverted back to normal, and i no longer have the 4-finger swipes. LAME

OSX 10.5.7 & iPhone Beta 5 = Bluetooth Tethering!!

Yeah!

I waited for this and with 10.5.7 I finally was able to hook up the iPhone via Bluetooth with my MacBook

I guess i am the only one with GMA X3100 graphics, but I do believe that this is the first driver update for this Intel on-board video chipset for the Mac OS in quite some time.

Many have rightly said that this Intel video could do much better if it had better drivers for it, especially on OS X where the drivers where somewhat behind.

I just played a bit of Nexuiz, a free FPS that is somewhat graphics intensive. It seems to me that the GMA X3100 is performing VASTLY BETTER than before...

I can't wait to update tonight - I was waiting for the initial round of bugs to be worked out. I was beginning to doubt that there would be another driver update for the GMA X3100, so I am delighted to hear it. I also have a

Blackbook 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM (Upgraded to Corsair), X3100, 250 GB HDD
HP LP2475W, S-IPS, 1920 x 1200
miniStack v.2.5, 1.0TB Enterprise Edition
Seagate FreeAgent Go 500GB

I will clone and double check my TM backup before updating. I am debating between doing a clean install and just updating because I have been having some issues of late - hanging when starting up, slow system (at times) with little running in the background. I have run permissions and checked the disk with various tools, but I don't look forward to doing a clean install because of all of the programs I would have to reinstall.
