No problems here on a late 2007 24" Al iMac, 2.4GHz. I ran the Combo updater. Two restarts after the update. First TM backup took 35 min on a f/w 800 external hard drive. Thanks :apple:!

Updated my MacBook last night with the c.400meg version (not via software update because it said it would take 3 hours to download).

Mine seemed to crash and the screen changed between blue -> corrupted white and blue garbage -> and a spinning wheel. It did this for about 20 mins before I decided to kill it with a long press of the power button.

After it restarted, it 'bonged' 3 times, rebooted twice and then the log in prompt appeared.

It says its installed in Software Update, but I'm skeptical :p

I've got a backup of just before the install, so I might restore that, and try again.

Downloading now... Says I have 6 hours to go. Hope everything goes well. Everyone is saying that the unibodies are updating fine.:)

Well, I installed the update.

It caused my Mail.app to completely reset (I got the 'Welcome to Mail" window), and so I had to re-add all of my email accounts and their settings to Mail. That was really annoying. WTF is that?

Really.

Has this update messed up anyone else's mail.app? I had both a MobileMe and my school's email set up with Mail, but when I restarted it only had the Mobile Me account with no signs of my school's account. After reentering all the information, the school account worked again but every time I quit the application it completely deletes the whole school account. It just seems to remember the Mobile Me account.

Anyone else have this problem?

I have the same problem. After updating, I lost all my Email Accounts (2 Gmails, and 1 for school...) in the Mail Application. The only one left is the MobileMe account, which I never applied/used... Guess I'll have to re-add all of them again. It's gonna be a long process to update the Inbox and potentially screw up my email archive...

No problems at all. I used the Software Updater and it processed the 10.5.7 update. It downloaded it in a few minutes (even over my naff work Wifi Network) and the upgrade was textbook. I ran the Software Updater again and it picked up the latest Safari 4 Beta update and that went through in no time at all.

Only thing I've noticed is that I'm unable to connect to my AEBS (which is at home) over my work network connection. Maybe it just needs a restart when I get back tonight.

10.5.7 breaks inDesign?

Since i updated a few hours ago inDesign (cs3, 5.0.4) keeps crashing when i try to export a document to pdf. It just crashes , i don't get any error messages. Is this a problem with my system only or are other users having similar problems?

b.t.w. in the console i do see the following:

The install went just fine. The only issue I found is that the option to disable the trackpad when using a mouse seems to have vanished. Anybody else with this problem?

Never mind, it doesn't seem to be related to 10.5.7. Everything works now (don't know what fixed it...)

Option is still there for me in the Trackpad preference pane. Not sure why it's not showing up for you.

TBH, I think most of the people here having issues with the update is their own doing. Several people including myself have installed the update on both my MBA and iMac 24" with Safari 4 and the update is top notch, not a hitch, not a problem, not a snag.
I think the ones complaining need to own up to what haxies or dock changes or secret stuff they have done to their Macs and even the ones not even using Macs.

TBH my install is fairly new, no customisations and I don't even have any growl installed or any apps opening at startup; and I suffered from the flashing bluescreen.

Can i ask but what is everyones problem with updates, i think half are making it up. I have used Os X since 10.2 jaguar, never had any issues with any update. I have installed 10.5.7 on my macbook, 3 mac minis, emac & even powermac, not a single issue ever

Both of mine got stuck in the loop before the first restart.

Other than that, all fine!

[Apart from my Mac Pro bug fix]

If you have a newer laptop with a multi-touch trackpad you get the preference pane you have. If you have an older non-multi-touch trackpad you get the other one.

So what this means is that people who have a newer laptop with multi-touch can't disable the trackpad when a mouse is connected? That's weird. Couldn't find the option anywhere else, either.

I just exported a PDF successfully in CS4.

just to clarify... if you use the Combo updater, the 3.2.3 Safari update is included... no need to download it separately.

I didn't use the combo updated and Safari 3.2.3 was included in my 10.5.7 update from SU, as in after installing 10.5.7, my safari version changed to 3.2.3.

Erm, why is my update only 286MB?

Everywhere I look (here, giz, AI) it says it 400+

Hmph, gonna wait a week anyway if people are being screwed over by it.

If it says you need 286...then thats all you need. SU does it's calculations well. Nothing is screwing you over.

These are just the people who are having problems. I assume there are a tonne people who have updated without any problems, and so, haven't posted here. Therefore it seems as if a lot of people are having problems, when actually the ratio "no_issues:issues:" is much greater (ie. there are less people having problems than are not).

The load on Apple's servers seems to have decreased considerably :)

Almost 20MB/s is not that bad.

has anyone else noticed that the "syncserver" process is using almost 100% of the cpu when it syncs with mobileme? there's also a process called windowserver that's using between 10% and 15% of the cpu. none of these processes were like this before the update. also, the mobileme preference pane is taking forever to open and sometimes causes system preferences to not respond. this is the ONLY update i have EVER had problems with!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
