your best bet. either apple's server's hit hard or they're bunch of amateurs with software udpates. ;)

Downloading the update from the site works much faster. I downloaded the combo update from the website in a few minutes.

w0rd.

The auto updater froze up at 38.5MB. Direct link to the combo update, and it's coming down at a stable 1.5MBps

<3 12Mbps Comcast connection!

Apple really should have split this up into 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 given the number of fixes, the length of time and all the trouble people are having downloading and installing. ...

AGREED.

Three out of three machines went into endless reboot cycles.

All three clean and not a single customization or hack. Wait this one out.

Mac OS X 10.5.7 FAIL

Hmm...

Four hours to download? I think I'll try tomorrow.

Never takes that long with Windows Update but then I suppose they have more practice.

I just got this.... What the .... ?

FAIL.

Supposedly, the ability to switch graphics mode are supposed to appear in that menu following the 10.5.7 update.

BB714,

Maybe I'm being a little slow on the uptake but here's what I have. Can you clue me in on what this is all about? No change from the previous. Why would I want fast resolution switching from my power management menu?

Anyway, no idea why it's not working for some people.

Also: people who had issues with the currency converter widget being wrong due to the order of the listed countries being mismatched - mine is fixed now.

What happened to the previous thread(s) started under this news item?

Where did all the other posts go?

Did you look at his image? The options for presets (better battery life, better performance etc) are absent.

Is it just me or does it look like the "shadows" of the open windows looks strange, like there is some slight color banding? Anyone else see this?

I'll count myself lucky in having a flawless install. Downloaded in about 15 minutes, cleanly rebooted, everything came up. Spotlight had to rebuild its index after everything came up and that took a while. Safari 4 Beta update, again clean reboot.

First Time Machine backup just finished and that took a while. Everything just worked out for me this time.

Same here I had no problems

It's nothing to do with resolution switching. bb714 is talking about switching the graphics card - hence the additional options in the battery menu.

I have a Unibody Macbook Pro. When I go to "About This Mac", it says I have 10.5.7 installed, but I do not have those options which means that 10.5.7 wasn't completely installed? I tried reinstalling twice already to no avail.

Installed and got stuck on a blue screen. Every few seconds a loading wheel would pop up but that would repeat over and over and it wouldn't go anywhere. I powered off my 17" MBP unibody and tried again. Same thing. The third time I got the Leopard background with a loading wheel that spun a few times, then the computer restarted itself.

Finally, I am able to log in. Hopefully this is stable.

I also got stuck on the blue screen... but after forcing a power down and restarting, I am back to normal after a few restarts by the computer and seeing default Leopard wallpaper. the install seems to just have gotten stuck, but it's all good now.

also, my energy icon is finally a fluorescent bulb!

*SMACK*

That's my palm hitting my forehead.

He threw me off when he started talking about graphics modes. My mistake. Still, coulda said "Power profiles" to eliminate ambiguity.
