FINALLY...after all this time...;)

I got the download okay and had to reboot twice because of the Safari update but the permission repair is going haywire.

It's repairing permissions for every applications and going in and out of them.

Anyone know why?

This is what it looks like:

It might be my eyes but our demo 17" UMBP looks less embarrassingly dim.

Still looks like a 15" UMBP at half-brightness though, almost off compared to the 17" MBP immediately preceding it.

Has this update messed up anyone else's mail.app? I had both a MobileMe and my school's email set up with Mail, but when I restarted it only had the Mobile Me account with no signs of my school's account. After reentering all the information, the school account worked again but every time I quit the application it completely deletes the whole school account. It just seems to remember the Mobile Me account.

Anyone else have this problem?

yay did the update in the morning before my test, system feels a bit snappier now...gonna hold final judgement after a week.so far so good, dont forget to do a software update after rebooting to update safari 4 beta.

OK, so I ended up manually downloading the update from Apple's site. The update went normally on my white iMac, but on my Macbook and Mac Mini went into this endless graphical glitch before the restart stage. I had to hold down the power button to do a hard shut down on each, but after powering back on, everything went normally as far as I could tell.

I wonder if the graphical glitch has to do with the onboard Intel chips I have on the Mac Mini and Macbook compared to the ATI onboard graphics of my iMac.

10.5.7 is more than just "bug fixes", it adds a lot of hardware support (Core i7, Radeon 4000, native ICH10, Marvell 88E8040 support and more) especially great for hackintosh users. :)

Perfect update here.:) Retail 10.5.6 install.

Hackintosh:

Intel DG31PR
Core 2 Quad q6600
Zotac 9800GT
4 GB Ram

My Unibody did this too. Hard powered down, then it self-rebooted 2-3 times, and then came up with the login screen.

I've tried to install about 10 times now, but I just get this message (about 10% into the download) after it tells me it's going to take 4 hours!!:

tbh, I've never had this BS before, and there's nothing great about this upgrade, I think I'll just wait for SL...

So I just downloaded the update (not combo, regular) and installed it. When my Late 06 MacBook went to reboot, it would glitch out, (pic included), go back to verbose logout, blue screen, then glitch, and back again. Did this 10 times before I held the power button and it rebooted again, then again, then got right up to where the login window should of been, where it had the verbose text but with the blue screen transparently over the text. Rebooted again, everything seems to be working now.

I don't have any serious modifications to the system, this is a fresh install on a new hard drive that I have been running for 2 weeks.

Think I should worry or just think everything went fine?

Edit: This is probably the log of what was happening...

Bingo! That's what I had! But now it is working fine.

Mixed bag

Downloaded the combo update as I had multiple MBPs to update in the family.

On the MBP4,1 - update went well but it made the thing very sluggish to boot. After boot everything is normal but boot is annoyingly slow.

On the MBP2,2 - update went well, machine boots as fast as it used to and everything is very snappy like before.

Also - I have no fluorescent Energy bulb in preferences - same old incandescent one on the MBP4,1 whereas on the MBP2,2 I've got the fluorescent one!

Come on Apple, later machines ought to be greener than the older ones ;)

MBP 15 1st gen unibody, no issues so far. System rebooted twice on its own. 10.5.7 running smoothly and maybe it is my imagination, but the laptop feels cooler and I do not hear the fan going either.

System update does not yet shows the Safari update.

All nice and smooth.

System feels more responsive and also applications like email, and safari start faster than before 10.5.7. I reboot a few times a month this is the fastest I seen the system after a reboot EVER. Maybe it is me, but does feels much better than with 10.5.6. The word that comes to mind is SILKY.
GO :apple:!!!!!!!!

Join the club my friend. I have the same error. From the looks of things that you and others have posted, I'm getting the impression they should have left this one in the oven for a few more minutes...

No problems here, it took a few minutes to reboot, but I just went to do something else. My iMac G5 feels much faster too!

Those of you that get that error message about the digital signature being incorrect, try going to Disk Utility and 'repair disk permissions' on the disk where Mac OS X is installed. Then reboot, and try again. It worked for me.

Same I got this, along with two of my other friends. Mac is fail.

Let's hope the combo update works.

Oh, Combo Update on 4 Macs went well

For interest sake,

PowerBook G4 1.5, PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25, MacPro 2x 2.66, MacBook Pro 2.4

It starts off downloading then freezes and I get the digital signature error...

Updating through software update didn't work. I am now downloading from the website.

10.5.6 // 1.25 GHZ PPC // MDD

EDIT: Looks like install is going smoothly... I would suggest that people who get the error when using software update download from apples site.

Same issue here. Trying it over again.
So is this going to help keep my MBP connected? It is kind of shameful.
