That's my palm hitting my forehead.

He threw me off when he started talking about graphics modes. My mistake. Still, coulda said "Power profiles" to eliminate ambiguity.

Sorry for the confusion Signal-11. Do you have any clue why my power profiles aren't showing up?

I also got stuck on the blue screen... but after forcing a power down and restarting, I am back to normal after a few restarts by the computer and seeing default Leopard wallpaper. the install seems to just have gotten stuck, but it's all good now.

also, my energy icon is finally a fluorescent bulb!

what did you upgrade from... mine has always been a fluorescent bulb

back to my mac disk access is much faster doing directory listings! :D
it did manage to turn off screensharing on the remote machine though.. ugh

I spoke too soon. Bluetooth keyboarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd still brokennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

This is EXACTLY what mine did too. Unibody 2.0ghz. Oh well, all is well now. I used the combo update.

Is it me or does 10.5.7 feel snappy?

If that wasn't sarcasm, GTFO. :D

Downloaded and installed 10.5.7 without a hitch. Power profile options now show under the menubar icon again after the update.

All right, well, using the direct download link was properly fast, and although I did encounter the blue screen loop, I turned my computer off and on like other posters and the install proceeded successfully.

Afterwards, the new Safari 4 beta installed flawlessly and quickly via Software Update. And it looks like the new beta can "Check Mail" properly using Yahoo Webmail, a feature that was broken under the old beta. Yay!

I upgraded from 10.5.6, but on a core duo MBP. the newer mac models shipped with the fluorescent bulb in system preferences, or received them in an update, but the older core duo models have had incandescent bulbs up until this update.

So I just downloaded the update (not combo, regular) and installed it. When my Late 06 MacBook went to reboot, it would glitch out, (pic included), go back to verbose logout, blue screen, then glitch, and back again. Did this 10 times before I held the power button and it rebooted again, then again, then got right up to where the login window should of been, where it had the verbose text but with the blue screen transparently over the text. Rebooted again, everything seems to be working now.

I don't have any serious modifications to the system, this is a fresh install on a new hard drive that I have been running for 2 weeks.

Think I should worry or just think everything went fine?

Edit: This is probably the log of what was happening...

my download went completely fine but now my startup time has went from 35seconds to 2mins 20secs and i've restarted 4 times to try it

what causes this and will it speed up again?

I haven't measured the boot time yet but after update my MBP4,1 startup is definitely sluggish. I did a combo update just to be sure.

But since I never reboot this machine, I am not that concerned. I am a bit reluctant to put 10.5.7 on my work MBP2,2 as it gets rebooted often and it has been working like a champ for some time now.

Is it me or does the "changes" list look pretty small compared to what everyone was expecting.... unless they're just pointing out the most noticeable changes.

Safari 4 is still rubbish. Msn typing issue is still there. Urgh. I want faster Java-ness and stuffs without having to re-click the damn text box everytime I want to talk to a friend. =(

And no, I'm not using another client, don't like them

10.5.7 is more than just "bug fixes", it adds a lot of hardware support (Core i7, Radeon 4000, native ICH10, Marvell 88E8040 support and more) especially great for hackintosh users. :)
