Wee, they fixed the resolution issue. The last update disabled the native resolution of my TV (switchRes fixed it for my purposes).

I'll install that on the Media Mac before I put in on the work Mac. Can't wait for Snow Leopard though.

Just noticed another hiccup - I just received an iCal alarm popup. It was for every alarmed event I'd scheduled since mid-2006. :p

I get that every other update. You can option-click the button and they'll all go away. Think it has something to do with the system clock resetting in a weird way.

It probably became corrupted as you downloaded it. Maybe a server hiccup. Try restarting the machine and running Software Update again.

Thanks! It took a reboot - which is strange. Successive redownloads failed, but after a reboot it worked.

On my 13" MBP, after installation I noticed that colors are MUCH, MUCH better on the default profile. They must have fixed it.

Good for PPC Users & that that wait before going past 10.5

Boring!

Bring on Snow Leopard!

Not for the large percentage of PPC Mac Users that can go no farther than OS 10.5, the most stability that can be had will keep our PPC Macs useful for afew more years. There will be a group of OS 10.5 people that will choose to stay at that level, just as there are may Mac Users that have not updated their PPC & Intel Macs past OS 10.4.11.

Nothing to see here

09 MP rebooted twice then after a long startup everything seems to be working just fine. (and with native resolutions again! Only took a few months)

Samething for the 15" MBP (June 2009). The default profile does not produce the washed out color any more. It's a big improvement. The calibrated profile got from the forum is a bit dark. The default one is brighter.

Huh, Leopard? People still use that!?

I don't remember the last time I booted into Leopard. The current Snow Leopard release might as well be the GM.

Don

I whole-heartedly disagree.

quicktime x is running me nuts and safari beachballs quite a bit.

My iMac will not reboot after installing this update. It just goes to the blue screen and sits there. I see the little spining loading thingy sometimes. Its been 2 freaking hours and my iMac wont fully start up.

Can someone tell me wtf is going on?

mini-displayport to DVI working properly

Another issue that this update appears to fix:

I used to connect my Unibody MacBook to my Acer monitor using Apple's mini-displayport to DVI. However, when I woke the computer from sleep in clamshell mode, the Acer screen would often be snowy, and I would have to turn the monitor off and back on to get it working properly. (This monitor supports DVI with HDCP.) As a workaround, I connected with a VGA cable (and hence needed another displayport adapter). After this update, the DVI connection to my monitor appears to be working properly when I wake the computer from sleep.

Stupid newbie question. What is a Combo Update and why is it 759MB versus 247MB for the "regular" 10.5.8 update?

I've converted 3 out of 4 family members to MACs and in the past we have just run System Update individually.

Looking to "share" a single download image now and have this question.

Thanks
Dean

The standard update is a delta update which only installs what has has changed between 10.5.7 and 10.5.8. Combo update consolidates all updates into one big package.

Personally, I use combo updates instead of delta ones - I've seen and heard of bad experiences and prefer to do a full install of updates rather than using a delta update which results in all hell breaking loose. Probably explains why I haven't had a single problem with my Mac yet.

Will this update fix the external monitor issue that is caused by Apple Dual Link DVI to Mini DisplayPort adapter?

The adapter I am talking about is responsible for displaying resolution up to 2560x1600 resolution..

All is good here with 10.5.8

I downloaded the combo update, installed it and repaired permissions. It just "feels" smoother I guess. No troubles at all, although the double restart took a bit longer than I thought it should.
Running a 2007 24" 2.4GHz Al iMac. Thanks :apple: :)

Anyone notice there's an addition to Hardware Overview in Sys Profile Hardware UUID

Anybody else see a new Motion Sensor in System Profiler under Hardware Overview. Can't remember if it was there or not!

I figured I would have been the first one to notice this... something tells me this has something to do with hackintoshes...

After updating to 10.5.8 it had renamed my iMac and for some reason had the original name under shared devices.
I rebooted a few times but it was still the same so I had to change the name back to the original name and repair permissions to fix it.

Are those icons of the Macs in the sidebar custom or new ones?

Thanks Apple for this update, you have finally fixed my Airport connection issue!! It's been driving me nuts for weeks now!

ANothing, build 10A421a is completely flawless. I'm not having any issues. Are you?

BTW, is the iDisk icon really new to Leopard? Snow Leopard has had it for at least the past three builds.

Don

I am having issues; the absence of 64bit Intel GPU drivers for X3100 and GMA950 - there are also many other GPU's that don't have support but have 64bit Core 2 processors inside.

9 minutes after the first boot into 10.5.8... and my wifi drops. *sigh*

Maybe it's your router or a hardware problem with you :apple: computer?

Just a guess that's all. Never had a single problem with 10.5.7 and wireless range / signal quality / dropouts on my Mid 2009 MBP.

Yea, glad the pink icon is gone.

Did the install, first restart was fine, second one it threw up a kernel panic. I am thinking that this is not the update's fault though, as I have had probably half a dozen kernel panics on CPU 0 in the last 3-4 months... Here's hoping that a clean install of Snow Leopard in September will solve the problems...

If you've been having that many kernel panics then I think you need to go and get your hardware fixed - kernel panics tend only to happen either with faulty hardware or a faulty driver or a combination or both; have up graded your hardware recently (memory) beyond what was installed by Apple?

Perhaps that's the reason Apple decided to give a $100 discount and sell 10.6 for $29 - only partial 64-bit support. ;)
