Good Lord. I hope this version of the OS is finally going to be a fairly flawless OS. I hate the little problems which emerged from titanic problems in the first release. Next Apple OS I will NOT purchase until about a year after release.

Or you could wait another year for the following version (10.8) :p

Apple still haven't fixed the VPN / DNS bug.

The internal Cisco VPN doesn't pick up DNS settings correctly ( IP addresses don't resolve to host names ), and when disconnecting from VPN - all internet connectivity is lost - have to turn Airpost off and on.

Seems like I still have to use CISCO VPN. At least Shimo makes it more bearable!

Also, the long standing bug of Mail not kicking the "New Message Sound" still exists - so when receiving email, Mail is silent instead of making the "New Message Sound" ( using IMAP).

Oh, how people obviously fail to realize the differences in server space...

Software updates =/= web site servers. Obviously. These are unrelated. Please stop saying that the software update servers will somehow fix the web servers problems, because they won't.

iPhoto still choppy in full screen?

I just got my brand new MacBook pro 13" (2.4GHz, 4GB RAM). One of the first things I did was import 180 photos from my camera into iPhoto. The images are not huge (3.4MB each).

When I double-click an image in iPhoto (enter full screen) and pinch to zoom, and then use two fingers to pan over the image while zoomed in, I experience a lag of several seconds. So, in other words, if I zoom on an image, I watch the screen do a choppy zoom for the next couple seconds. Similarly, when I use two fingers to pan over the zoomed image, I watch the screen do a choppy pan for the next 5-6 seconds before finishing the operation.

Is this normal?

I just installed the update to 10.6.4 and expected this issue to be resolved since they explicitly stated:

- resolve an issue editing photos with iPhoto or Aperture in full screen view

Unfortunately, it did not solve the problem at all. It's exactly the same as before.

Can anyone else with a MacBook Pro please test this and let me know if you are experiencing the same problem?

You could care less?

You forgot negative caring. Therefore your argument is invalid. To ignore numbers below zero is the most blatant form of discrimination, tantamount to a hate crime.

"Could care less" and Growl Mail bitching aside, has anyone noticed any performance improvements?

Anyone fired-up any Steam games and done a comparison yet?

I wish people could comprehend that. You look like a complete idiot when you say "I could care less."

Anyway. The first 100-150MB downloaded in a minute or less. The last 150 or so has taken 45 minutes. A perfect end to a ****** Apple day..

No, you SOUND like a complete idiot when you say that. You LOOK like a complete idiot when you think sound waves come in via your eyes.

They haven't given me anything  I've given them so much when I bought one of their laptops.

Decent engineering and design? Software that integrates well with hardware? Regular software updates that fix bugs and give additional features without the need to choose from, download and install hundreds of separate items.

They make decent products that "give" the user a good experience using them.

What you give in return pays the brilliant people that work there and covers their manufacturing costs.

This really isn't a problem.

I think we can honestly hold up on a Mac OS X update. Hello Apple! We have an iPhone problem! Get that resolved first, then release an update for the Macs!

You are talking different divisions, different managers different servers and possibly even different pipes to the net. This is not an issue.

The iPhone problem revolves around selling out the entire allotment in part fo one day. It is actually a good problem for Apple but not so much for the potential customers.

I could care less about "I could care less" because I never say, "I could care less." What gets me are all the dolts who keep getting the 50/50 guess between "its" and "it's" wrong. Problem is, there IS no "choice" between the two. Each word has one meaning which is distinctly different from the other word's meaning.

Ahh, that's where you're wrong. "Its" has one meaning (it's the possessive form of the word "it"), but "it's" can be the contraction of:
1. it is; or
2. it has
Those are completely different things, because the present is not the same as the past.
