This feels a lot faster to me. Normally my machine feels the same speed after an update. I wonder if this is due to the graphics driver updates? I run an SSD for my boot drive, maybe something changed there too with the new Air making SSDs a higher priority. Graphics feel snappier and apps are launching quicker.

I updated on both my i5 15" MBP and i7 iMac and both went smoothly. What I have noticed is the inertia scrolling is really smooth on my MBP now. The graphics update really made a difference.

Just tried that. Went all the way thru then it started booting normally. Trying again.

Edit: It booted about 3/4 of the way with the progress bar then it appears it was booting as normal but doesn't go anywhere. Rebooting with holding the shift key. This isn't looking promising.

Booted in Verbose mode and here is where its getting stuck.

Have you tried repairing permissions from the Snow Leopard install disk?

For some reason, my four-year-old MB CD 13" (w/SSD) feels pretty damn fast on 10.6.5 . Everything's seriously snappy, seemingly more so than under 10.6.4. I'll have to watch this some more...My mind may be playing tricks on me. On the other hand, I normally don't feel any difference after OS updates :)

Test Safari to see if it's "snappier"... then you'll know. ;)

The placebo effect is well documented in medical literature.

I hope you were joking, insofar as it relates to permissions.

Since Mac OS 9 and Classic are no longer an issue, these problems can no longer occur.
So unless someone has been doing silly things in terminal with chmod, chown and chgrp, or there's a really badly behaved application, there's no point doing to unless you want to waste time.
Wrong.

Why doesn't Apple make it so that OS X regularly and automatically repairs permissions?

They have before. The 10.5.8 update runs a repair permission at the end, hence the long pause before it finally completes. I don't know why it isn't standard for every update; maybe the last 10.6 update will do it as well.

Curious if I install the 4.2 GM if I will be able to upgrade to the official version once it's released? Anyone have experience with that?

Yes. You just have to do a restore and it will install the official final release. Most likely the GM is the final release though.

Sorry if this has been posted, but this has instructions to get AirPrint working again. You need a prerelease of 10.6.5 to get the files, though.

My MacBook Pro w/ SSD also feels a lot faster.

Anyone here with a new iMac (2009-2010) who has tried out SDL games in fullscreen mode?
For instance Doom3, Quake4, Prey, Amnesia, Penumbra, etc.
You can download a demo from most of these games.

Just curious if your Mac mouse arrow will disappear from the screen after the game has been launched?

I can't say about other hardware, but a rather large amount of 'new' iMacs can have this bug in 10.6.5. It's a small but annoying bug... It's a timing issue that is responsible for this bug where the mouse is to late to hide behind the window. Just to be clear, it's only in fullscreen mode!! Windowed mode is not affected by this...

10.1 beta 2, 10.6.5 os, 4.2 gm seed iphone 4 = NO airprint :(

i have two wireless networks - printer is on one wifi, im on another, but they are linked together via my time capsule (which creates the 2nd network) - printing from mac works fine. but airprint is unsuccessful.

tried connecting iphone and mac to the same wifi the printer is on - still no printer found on iphone. :(

Oh really? I'm using an iPad maybe thats why?...

is your mac an iMac or Macbook? If the former than and 2008, then why do I have more MHz of memory and yet less GHz processor?

Update all sorted now :)

Downloaded 10.6.4 combo and ran that
Then downloaded the 10.6.5 update via:

'Go to the Terminal and type "softwareupdate -d MacOSXUpd10.6.5-10.6.5" (without the quotation marks)
Once downloaded the terminal will tell you to go to "Library\Updates" were you can find the correct update file.'

Thanks to teebeau :)

Ran the update and now I have 10.6.5 :D
