Downloading now!

Man, I hate these kind of posts that add nothing to the conversation and just bloat the thread. What would be more useful is to download the update, test it out and then post if you have any issues.

And my take on the update... I don't see a need for it. There is nothing on the list that makes me want to risk changing my otherwise stable system. Unless it speeds up my computer or offers something to help with task management, I'll pass.

don't know if this has been pointed out

silent upgrades to both Preview and Finder in the update

Preview is now 5.0.3 & Finder is now 10.6.6

Have you tried repairing permissions from the Snow Leopard install disk?

I did and it repaired a bunch of stuff under Library/Application Support.

Performed a Repair Disk as well and it had an invalid folder count (or something like that).

Rebooted and still not getting much further (still hanging at 'Waiting for DSMOS...').

Installed and everything seems to be running fine. Maybe I got a little extra RAM after my initial boot - not sure. Normally when I re-boot I have about 3.00gb of RAM available, after the update I noticed I had closer to 3.10gb.

Maybe the update had something to do with that, not sure. I'm not the most technical of the bunch.

my blootooth isnt working anymore after updating to 10.6.5 ...

Blootooth: not available

???

macbbob pro early 2008 15"

anybody any idea what to do?

Do you have a valid explanation as to why repairing permissions is not pointless?

Sure, sometimes I'll get weird messages telling me that I do not have proper administrator permission to open a random game or something, and after repairing permissions it will work.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C134 Safari/6533.18.5)

Okay: my printer is hooked up via USB, I have "print sharing" checked in System Prefs, same with "share over network" in the Print/Fax pane, 4.2GM, 10.6.5 from today, iTunes 10.1 beta (don't think that even comes into play here) and I get "no printer found" when I try. Any suggestions?

Graphics clearer???

Installed on my later black MacBook.
Is it my imagination or does the graphics seem more clear and smoother?
Looks awesome!!!

If nobody else has noticed this, it might just be the lighting in this motel room.

I know there is no need to run permission repair after the update but I do it anyways. OCD. First time was hundreds of repairs probably most of them irrelevant. But for the first time since I have been using OSX 10.0 ^ when I ran it again nothing showed up. I don't know if apple is now just hiding the irrelevant data or not but its a first.

10.6.5 updated these.

10.6.5 installed, iOS 4.2 GM installed on iPad, and I can't print to my two printers with Macs on. HP Officejet 4500, and HP Officejet 6400. Disappointing. :(

After installing 10.6.5 AirPrint works fine (had previous beta 10.6.5 installed), but now iPhoto 9.1 crashes on launch!

Anyone else having problems with iPhoto? Yes I repaired permissions.

Airprint for both OS X and windows depends on a new version of iTunes which will be released soon. This is why devs with the earlier beta of iTunes 10.1 could still print with Snow Leopard 10.6.5 while those with a newer beta could not. Apple should have it fixed in the final release of 10.1 which should come out on Friday.

You guys will just have to wait. It has nothing to do with 10.6.5 but rather iTunes.

It has nothing to do with iTunes in OS X. Apple removed the CUPS files in the final build, but they were still there for people who'd installed earlier builds.

Kernel Panic

Have my iMac for a year now and never experienced one single kernel panic until this 10.6.5 update... My iPhoto crashed twice so far.. and i have only updated like 2 hours ago.... :mad

^ IMO looks like a decency backtrace on graphics kexts after opening iPhoto. could be due to the graphics updates or a hardware problem. have you updated iPhoto? try reinstalling it.

dont worry unless it keeps on happening, then you might be in for harware issues.

No 10.6.5 update appears in my software update on an alu macbook. Anyone else experiencing this? Also, I've been holding off downloading/installing two updates which have now disappeared (xcode, aperture).

Should I download the combo update or wait?

Secondary display now flickers

My secondary display now quickly flickers about every 1.5 seconds since I added the update. And it's quite annoying.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues?
