Once I went to RC2 and rebooted, it then offered me a 2.21GB one which works out nicely. Says 3 mins remaining on the download.

Bash:
wget --continue http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/50/49/001-79699-A_93OMDU5KFG/dkjnjkq9eax1n2wpf8rik5agns2z43ikqu/InstallAssistant.pkg

This is the raw file of the update installer. with the --continue flag, wget will continue the download if it fails and you have to run it again.

you might have to install wget through homebrew or macports.

Can I use this to upgrade from 11.0.1. RC2 build?

Biggest jump yet! I'm now at 20% through the terminal. Still no issues!

Code:
REDACTED@REDACTED ~ % sudo softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.0.1

I gave up downloading when I saw this! I think I'll wait a few days before trying again!

14% here too

After you download the installer if you want to keep it copy it from the applications folder before installing t gets deleted form applications once installed

also if you want a bootable installer use a 16gb pen drive name it Untitled and run 4th following script in Terminal (Before you Install It)

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

SLOW download 😶

I miss retail box Mac OS X

View attachment 1661614

Ah! the warm fuzzies! Still remember my first boxed OS X upgrade - the box for Panther looked like it meant BUSINESS! The checkout girl at PC World (UK equivalent to Best Buy) took one look at the box and asked 'What is THAT?'

No colourful boxes or stickers as one might be used to with Win XP etc. No, just intimidating, sleek, none-more-black, silver X embossed OS X goodness.

I’m down to 3hrs remaining.
This is funny; I posted a comment when I had 2 days remaining, then immediately saw your post and was jealous. Then, I checked my progress and I had almost exactly that same amount downloaded as you (2.58 GB vs 2.59 GB). Looks like it sped up significantly, and I've also got 3 hours remaining.

When I try to use Internet Recovery (alt + cmd + r) I can only choose macOS Catalina and not macOS Big Sur?

Using a Apple MacBook Pro 15” 2015.

I have no problem seeing the macOS Big Sur update in macOS Catalina.

Can someone answer this?
