Those were the days! I can remember the joy of every update, first to 28 and the 56k

I fondly recall hours spent downloading a photo of a model topless with bikini bottom at a friend's house. I remember the slow reveal starting at the top. When it reached the chin - after we finished lunch - the sight of what looked like beads of sweat were seen at the top of her neck. It was a side view. An hour later, it revealed the top of her chest, and what looked like some white, frothy...something. After another 30 minutes, we were able to accurately deduce what we were about to see what bubbles cover the upper naughty bits. Needless to say, by the time dinner was finished, we were able to view the entire image. And then it became awkward. lol

He had this setup if I recall correctly. He was showing me what his computer and modem could do, and that's when I learned about bulletin boards.

Years later, we had 14.4, then 28.8. But then the 56k modem came on the scene, and we were rip-roaring through AOL and Napster! Then DSL came, and it was even better. Ahhh, those were the days....

Ah! the warm fuzzies! Still remember my first boxed OS X upgrade - the box for Panther looked like it meant BUSINESS! The checkout girl at PC World (UK equivalent to Best Buy) took one look at the box and asked 'What is THAT?'

No colourful boxes or stickers as one might be used to with Win XP etc. No, just intimidating, sleek, none-more-black, silver X embossed OS X goodness.

Ah Panther! I remember it well, it came with my 2004 eMac already but was one of the best versions of OS X for PPC IMO!

Also, wasn't it like £130 to upgrade?

When I try to use Internet Recovery (alt + cmd + r) I can only choose macOS Catalina and not macOS Big Sur?

Using a Apple MacBook Pro 15” 2015.

I have no problem seeing the macOS Big Sur update in macOS Catalina.

Can someone answer this?
That's not how internet recovery works....it installs the latest version of macOS that is currently installed on your Mac. If you upgrade to Big Sur and then run internet recovery, you should, in theory, be able to reinstall Big Sur.

I started just after 1pm. It looked like it was hanging but what it would do is "look" like it was dead, then jump up 300mb or so at a clip. I got to just over 1gb and it failed. Restarted and now its plugging away and half way there.

rei

update, WRONG! Made it almost 7 and failed!!!

Hi, I have tried your terminal command and I get this message "Scanning for 11.0.1 installer Install failed with error: Update not found"

Any ideas? the update is there if I choose the mac store route

Thanks

I bought a thousand bucks worth of movies on Apple TV and I can’t play even one movie tonight because the servers are ****ed up and I still have no OS update.

If this was 2001 I could have finished the Mac OS install from DVDs while watching a DVD film on my TV.

It’s nearly 2021 and I’m literally wondering when the digital internet revolution is coming. 😝😝😝😂😂
