All done :) Build 20B29

So after the issue was supposedly resolve I had the same issue of it erring out still. I actually had to recheck the update link through the App Store and then it downloaded with no problems. Not sure if that fixed it but it seemed to work for me.

I don't show the update in the App store under Utilities.... it was there earlier today

Finally had gotten fed up with the instal failed errors in the system preferences pane that I found the package installer, downloaded that with no issues and the system also installed with zero issues.

Details please.... I cannot get past the install error

Is there any difference between RC2 and this public version? I know the build number is incremented, but I can't seem to get it to show in Software Update.

If you have VPN, French Apple servers are much faster for downloading Big Sur update.

Australian Apple servers were to slow for me, so I switched to France. But I had to start the download from scratch.

I'm back and on Big Sur!
Steam runs fine. Steam still thinks I'm on Catalina.

From NeoFetch:

OS: macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 20B29 x86_64
Host: iMac18,3
Kernel: 20.1.0
Uptime: 30 mins
Packages: 170 (brew)
Shell: zsh 5.8
Resolution: 2560x1440@2x
DE: Aqua
WM: Quartz Compositor
WM Theme: Graphite (Dark)
Terminal: Apple_Terminal
Terminal Font: Monospace
CPU: Intel i7-7700K (8) @ 4.20GHz
GPU: Radeon Pro 575
Memory: 17276MiB / 49152MiB

Nothing for me.... I'll wait till tomorrow and try again. I have 3 DMs to AppleSupport on Twitter..... no response yet. It has to be their problem.

Took an hour for actual install on 2014 MBA.

still can’t watch 4K YouTube videos.

Finally got it installed from SU, seems like a pretty solid OS so far. I like the UI changes. my 2020 Air is my only supported Mac. I think going back to Catalina might be hard.

I don't know what I did, but it was only 2,21 GB for me.. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the tip! One machine is now going through the UK and the other one through Canada. Both are working although a bit slow.
Connecting to French VPN servers, I was able to download the update much quicker. Im on US East Cost.

It took around 5:00 PM PST for the servers to download osMAC Big Sur. Took about 30 minutes to download and 35 minutes to install. It is very snappy and am in the midst of updating components. After messing for 5 hours, I just shut it down and waited a few hours. What a day!!!!

I was going to wait, but went for it. Took about five minutes to download on my 1GB line, and now installing. Doubt I'll have much time to play with it tonight, but looking forward to it. Updated my Affinity apps earlier. I hear they are really snappy under Sur.
