after the HomePod disaster don't blame you at least you can do a full restore with a Mac

After having read about cases where the Catalina ROM (?) update completely bricked iMacs from 2013 and others (with Apple telling the owners that this is not covered by them), I'm even not sure about THAT anymore ...

did this update resolve the issue with MacBook pro overheating and running 10 degrees Celsius hotter ?

Would you rather that Apple simply ignores the new emojis that the Unicode Consortium put together every few months? Hint: It's not Apple that drives the development of new emojis; they are responding to an ever-evolving standard that is devised by an international consortium.

They already do. For example, Adlam script was added more than 3 years ago to Unicode 9. Supported by Windows and Android, but not Mac or iOS.

Definitely priorities and not merely following a standard.

I wonder if it is safe for the Mac Mini now. I am reluctant to test.

Ditto if it fixes the bugs in Photos syncing.
Running it on my 2012 Mac Mini, featuring a home-made Fusion Drive (256 GB Samsung plus Apple provided 500 GB HDD), 16 GB ram, no issues. I did experience a AppleTV streaming movie hang; and it looks like they addressed some stability issues with the TV app.

Also, my old Logitech wireless mouse (unified USB with Keyboard) quit working. The Logitech solar keyboard works just fine; but was unable to make the Logitech mouse function (despite being recognized). So, I got the Apple Magic Mouse 2. All in all, it's been a pretty solid performer

I find it comical that Apple takes the time to point out that "over 70" new emoji's have been added to the release (and even give said update its own section in the announcement!).

It really gives you a sense of where Apple's priorities are these days... is there an emoji for that?

Sadly, it's not Apple that's setting the bar here, it's our society that chooses what's important to us. Apparently the ability to use pics because we can't spell is high priority.

Early adopters, you know what to do😜. My MacBook Air is still on Mojave (don’t remember the release number,) but I don’t plan on bricking this device after what happened to some HomePod users yesterday...

Managed to get 1.99GB of this 4.90GB update until it hit a brick wall. And I'm on a 1 gig symmetrical fiber connection so it's not like the problem is on my end.

The download is well slow for me(UK)

Yup. My download stalled half way through. A couple of reboots later and the download is still stuck. It looks like Apple have CDN reliability issues to compound yesterday's HomePod fiasco.

What in the world needs to be "supported" for AirPods Pro? Is there some added functionality to control them?

Yes same issue I got to the last 4.89 and it totally craps out. I see many are reporting that
