I find it comical that Apple takes the time to point out that "over 70" new emoji's have been added to the release (and even give said update its own section in the announcement!).

It really gives you a sense of where Apple's priorities are these days... is there an emoji for that?

OMG Would you people STOP? They are only implementing unicode updates. It's the same idiotic posts about "emoji's" every single update.

My theory is tech article writers get paid by the word so it’s easy money to list each new emoji every article. Thereby skewing the content of articles and triggering our rage.

Wrong. As an example, the new gender-neutral emojis require handling additional Unicode sequences.

Emoji are a special case that use complex Unicode sequences, compared to normal scripts, because they didn't want code points to balloon (e.g. implementing skin tone and couples), and due to geopolitical issues (flags).

UTF encoding needs no modification to accommodate codepoints of up to 4 byte blocks. There’s nothing magical about these emojis. All are represented by simple codes.

I think the real question here... is whether there's any reason to bother installing this, same as whether there was any reason to install the .0.

Emoji updates have nothing to do with Apple, they're Unicode standard updates that Apple has to support, unless you want to see "☐" whenever someone's send you a new emoji from a device that did have the updated Unicode. Everyone chill the **** out.

Just out of curiosity, did you do an update from OS 10.15.0 to OS 10.15.1? I myself will want to do a full, clean, "virgin" installation of OS 10.15.1 (but still in testing for me).

It was an upgrade from 10.15.0. I don't think I've done a clean install on this drive since 10.11 or 10.12. I just don't have the time and patience to download and install all of the software I use as well as tweak my preferences if I don't have to these days. Because, there's no point in the exercise if I am just going to migrate my Library folder back in and likely any conflicting files with it.

After resetting PRAM and SMC the color profiles don't work. It is terrible, after the boot there is a totally unfamiliar colour schema, and if I change the color profiles, it works totally uncertain. What happened??????????????
Update: If I start the Photoshop, it switches to correct color profile.
Update 2: I found the color profile named Display which has deleted and the phenomenon disappeared...
Update 3: unfortunately doesn't work again...

Nope....10.14.6 seems to be running pretty well with no problems.

The MBP finished downloading and it didn't take all that long to install, so then I moved on to the MacBook and it downloaded a lot faster and also has now completed the installation. Now I'm doing WatchOS6.1 -- I'd forgotten, though, that we can now do that entire process on the watch instead of needing to use the app on the iPhone -- a few minutes of confusion ensued until I checked the Apple Support documents and was reminded of the right way to do things now! Watch is busily working away on the installation now....

Wonder how many of these problems are "oh a buddy of mine built me a hackintosh and now i am having problems with the OS running on my machine".

Couldn't agree more. After the tech industry started pushing emojis with different skin tones, the whole thing became laughable, but maybe "the kids" love that stuff. Too much stupidity in these times, with social media, Twitter, emojis, slofies etc..

I’m actually having more issues on my MacBook Air than my hackintosh :(
Sorry about that, remember Apple has the feedback page to report such issues. I would do that right away so they know of issues with your system. Make sure you put the model of the Mac so they will know to test one of the computers in the lab.
