Just for my interest, did mostly everybody over here upgrade the iCloud storage as it seems still using iMessage in the cloud? I had to deactivate it in iOS 11.4 the minute it started uploading as it completely crashed my 5 Gig of entry storage. Obviously way too many videos and pictures of our kids flying around...

When I delete messages on the Mac, they are also deleted on the iPhone.
Question. I am testing this iCloud iMessage feature and I noticed a pretty glaring problem.

If I delete a message on my iPhone or iPad, it deletes it everywhere. If I delete a message from my Mac it does not delete everywhere.

Is there a way to fix this?
That happened to me as well when I hit the small X by the convo, it would not delete the convo off other devices, but when I right clicked on the convo and then deleted it, it did remove it from all devices. Kind weird.

Is there a reason why Apple hadn't released an actual web app 'Messages' on iCloud.com? If they do that, does that means it will hurt iPhone and iPad sales?
Wait, wait, they didn’t add Messages to iCloud.com? If they don’t add that capability, this feature is as good as useless to me. Messages barely take any space, so I am not about to let them store messages in the cloud, with questionable security, to save an irrelevant amount of storage space. They could easily tie it to having at least 1 iPhone being actively used by your Apple ID, if they feared enabling to work on messages via web browser could lose them hardware sales.

Anyone else seeing the issue where deleting a message thread on a Mac doesn’t delete it on your phone? It works fine when I delete a thread on my iPhone - disappears right away on my Mac. The other way - doesn’t work.

EDIT:
It also gave me the warning that it would delete the convo off all other devices. FYI

At least one other person in this thread has mentioned that. It works for me but I’m not sure what’s going on. Maybe mess around with the settings.

Is that a “feature” . Shouldn’t work that way. I swiped to delete with my Magic Mouse on the Mac, and it doesn’t disappear off my phone.

Apple today released macOS High Sierra 10.13.5, the fifth major update to the macOS High Sierra operating system available on Apple's Mac lineup. macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 comes more than two months after the release of macOS High Sierra 10.13.4, which introduced eGPU support, Business Chat in Messages, and more.

macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 can be downloaded directly from the Mac App Store or through the Software Update function in the Mac App Store on all compatible Macs that are already running macOS High Sierra.

The macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 update introduces support for Messages in iCloud, a feature that Apple has been testing and working on since macOS High Sierra was announced last June.

Messages in iCloud, as the name suggests, stores your iMessages in iCloud rather than on each of your individual devices, introducing improved cross-device syncing and saving on-device storage space. Messages in iCloud support is also available in iOS 11.4, which was released to the public earlier this week.

macOS High Sierra will be followed by macOS 10.14, a next-generation version of macOS that Apple is expected to introduce at the Worldwide Developers Conference next week.

Seems odd that swiping to delete would not work as well. But, we’re in a new era with Apple now...

Just went to App Store...put in 10.13.5 and it said...No results....
That's not how software updates work. You can download the full installer by searching for High Sierra or clicking the link in the featured section, otherwise look under updates and type command-R to refresh if the update doesn't appear right away.

30 min installation on my 2017 top spec mbp. Crazy me to think all that work they put into a better file system would have made updates a faster installation process ;)

Hi guys,

I have updated to macOS 10.13.5 but I am not seeing the option to sync with iCloud on iMessages. Is anyone also having this problem?
Did you look at your iMessage account in the Message app itself? The setting is not in the iCloud preferences.
