I see. Well, whenever it stops being stupid and actually finishes uploading/downloading, I will do a couple of test deletes.

Nope!You don't see in Messages > Preferences > Accounts?
forgive my ignorance, what is a combo update?

Yeah, but I think it already got thru that because I left it on power and with Messages in the foreground overnight, but I still got messages later the next day.Initially, it will have to sync a crapload of messages, you do know that huh.
I had this problem on one of our Macs. Solution was to sign out of iCloud ( via Systems Preferences > iCloud), quit Messages and then sign in to iCloud again and then restart Messages. The option then appeared in Messages > Preferences > Accounts. Not for me either. Gonna reboot and see if it shows up.
When I delete messages on the Mac, they are also deleted on the iPhone.I am using the latest Mac version 10.13.5. Hence, whyI am asking if other people are having this issue. Did you test it yet? Like I said, it delete everywhere including the Mac (since I have iMessage iCloud on my Mac enabled) when deleted from another device. However, if deleted on the Mac, it does not delete on my other iDevices.
yeah its working now, thanks!Have you actually been updated to 10.13.5? (Apple menu -> About this Mac) I just applied it and rebooted and went and looked for messages in the cloud and it wasn't there. Now I find that I'm still on 10.13.4. Applying again to see if it works on the second run.

I did hit the sync now on the Mac under Messages settings. Did you do that? Was there any additional setting besides enabling iCloud iMessage in iMessage settings? It is not deleting right away for me.
On iOS when I delete it gives me a notification warning me it will be deleted elsewhere. Whereas on the Mac there is no notification.

Cough...AirPower...coughThere was a time when Apple refrained from vapourware. Today, under Cook, they are beginning a dangerous trend into vapourware that brings the respect level down several "notches".
It is one full year and now they are delivering it. These guys used to perfect things in the back before releasing, and one could buy products and use services right on the day of announcement, not any longer. I do not know why, understand why, but I do not like this trend.
Messages in Cloud: 3 days before iOS 12 instead of shipping with 11.
HomePod was announced to come months later, released even more months later.
iMac Pro, previewed. Why! Just launch when ready!
There used to be pride in it. But I do sincerely feel that any kind of personalisation, any sort of character of a company was lost the day Jobs passed away.
Where is that messag/option supposed to be located? Is the "Enable Messages in iCloud' checkbox not showing up for anyone else?

Jabber is Cisco's messaging app, designed for enterprise environments.Add Jabber Account
Only thing I can say is that I have my messages set to delete after 30 days. I don’t know if that makes a difference. When I click Sync is brings back my deleted message which was still stored on my iPhone/iPad. For whatever reason it is not notifying them to delete messages.
Deleting your copy of a message does not affect the message on the recipient's device(s).So here's what I don't understand: If I send a message to person X, and then delete that message, assuming this all works like it should, that message will disappear forever from all of the devices I have currently signed into using my iCloud account for messages. But what about the recipient? Will the message live on in their side of the conversation?

OK NOW this is the Combo. Thanks!!
In this case, Messages is actually referring to the generic XMPP protocol, not Cisco's version of it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMPPThank You!
