So is it safe to download 12.5?
Just saw before one user saying it bricked their 2021 MBP.

It was fine for me. Unfortunately that person is in New Zealand and they don't have Apple Stores there. I had a macOS brick a MacBook Pro about 10 years ago. I drove to The Apple Store (1 mile away) and they got it back up and running in about ten minutes. I reposted that report from r/mac but I installed it anyways and it was fine.

Thanks for the info.
Mines to even 1 week old yet so id hate to brick it...only reason im hesitant to download the update.

What do you mean?

From what I've heard DB "works" in the newer OS's but with 12.3 Apple removed one of the libraries that DB relies on for Smart Sync to work with apps other than the Finder. Here's what DB said back before 12.3 came out:

If you choose to update to macOS 12.3, you may have issues opening online-only files in third-party applications on your Mac. As a temporary workaround, you can open online-only files directly in Finder.

Note: On macOS 12.3, online-only files will show as zero bytes in size.

So that's cute. This doesn't impact everyone but if for example you have an InDesign project and it references a bunch of cloud-only images, it won't automatically load the image files. You have to go into the Finder and manually set them as local. https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/macos-12-monterey-support

Apparently development of a solution is not going very well.

Apple today released macOS Monterey 12.5, the fifth major update to the macOS Monterey operating system that launched in October 2021. macOS Monterey 12.5 more than two months after the launch of macOS Monterey 12.4.

The ‌‌‌‌‌macOS Monterey‌‌ 12.5 update can be downloaded on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Preferences.

According to Apple's release notes, macOS Monterey 12.5 adds a bug fix for a Safari tab issue and it adds the option to restart, pause, rewind, or fast-forward a live sports game that's in progress. Apple's release notes for the update are below.macOS Monterey 12.5 could be one of the last updates to the Monterey operating system as Apple is now working on macOS Ventura, the next-generation version of macOS set to be released this fall.

Has anyone heard whether or not 12.5 fixes a wide spread issue playing audio and encountering popping noises on M1 MacBook Pros, particularly the 16”?

My M1 MBA wouldn't do the 12.5 update, I requested the update three times, each time I got an error message saying that the update has changed, start the process again. I'm now downloading the full 12.5 installer and will run that over the top and see if it works. Grr!

And my MBP still crashes when connected to the external display.

You could try to save boot your Mac. Start up with Shift pressed (use cabled keyboard or BT-board with charging cable). BTW, in this state, your Mac might behave a little strange/unresponsive, that's normal. After that, boot normal again.
If save boot is not working, you could try resetting PRAM and SMC.

So, with 12.4 I noted significantly more issues with my external TB4 hub, wake from sleep with external monitor, and connected external TB/USBC drives as compared with 12.3. Anyone know or witnessed if 12.5 has fixed issues related to any of these topics?

Well, here we are at 12.5 and still no Dropbox compatibility update. Stuck at 12.2.1.

Turn on early releases, and you might be migrated over to the File Provider beta (which works pretty reliable for me).

Running an outdated version of your OS with known vulnerabilities is worse than running a beta version of Dropbox.
