just spoke with OWC. they said a similar issue happened with High Sierra. they 'fix' was to rent an original Apple drive from them (or use the one you have), install Mavericks (assuming a clean drive), upgrade to Monterey. then, put in Aura Pro X2 and try upgrading to Monterey, possibly the needed firmware upgrade will have been installed. Messy.same here....tried all those as well, and bootable USB with Monterey installer......install bombs
Generally I agree. I am most excited to now have live text in photos, system wide translation, and improved AirPlay. This is the first major update I can remember where almost nothing seems different.
Immediately after Monterey install, 'Bitdefender for Mac' caused Time Machine to not function properly - would prevent it from operating. Got onto their Support, and they released an update to their files this morning (26 Oct 2021) that fixes that.I forgot to mention bitdefender is not Monterey compatible (safari extension) in case you are using any. What type of Mac?

fairly sure this is same problem I am having with Aura Pro X2 (OWC) on 2013 MacPro and an external OWC SSD......apparently, there is an EFI update with Monterey and it will only install if drive is factory AppleI've downloaded the macOS Monterey installer en started it on my supported MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015). When the MacBook is preparing for the restart, the installer fails. See attached screenshot. I Have a 1 TB Solid State PCI-Express Drive HD (Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB) formatted as Apple_APFS. Anyone with an idea how to start this?
I've checked with Disk Utility and the HD is fine. Also booted in Safe Mode but same installer fail issue.
OWC, similar issue happened with High Sierra they saidReally? Where did you get this EFI firmware info?
If I do this in terminal:OWC, similar issue happened with High Sierra they said
Depending on your install method, you will see
your terminal stuff is over my head (update: I tried your terminal command, found same allow list comment, though perhaps this EFI not ok with Monterey)If I do this in terminal:
sudo /usr/libexec/firmwarecheckers/eficheck/eficheck --integrity-check
I get:
EFI Version: MBP121.88Z.0177.B00.1806051659

Is this the issue? So everyone who upgraded their Mac can't use macOS Monterey.
Thank you. Big Sur had a longer boot time than Catalina, was wondering if that improved with Monetery.I'm running it on a mid 2015 MBP 15 - No problems. No notable change (good or bad) from Big Sur.
I can confirm this issue regarding non-Apple drives. I have two 2015 MacBook Pros updated with Samsung 970 EVO Plus drives and ran into this issue on both. Reinstalling the Apple SSD allowed the Monterey install, and then putting the Samsung SSD back in also allowed for the Monterey upgrade. Running perfectly now.fairly sure this is same problem I am having with Aura Pro X2 (OWC) on 2013 MacPro and an external OWC SSD......apparently, there is an EFI update with Monterey and it will only install if drive is factory Apple
I've spent many hours now trying everything anywhere that is suggested. The last step will be to contact Apple and see if somehow my account was incorrectly blocked. Others have reported this despite Messages/iMessage continuing to work on other devices for the same account. I even get notifications about messages and can reply in that box.Messages crashes on launch. 'Tried to reinstall Big Sur, will not let me. Stuck. Otherwise seems ok on my MacBook Pro.
Keep getting to the last minute of installation and then it gets stuck. Driving me madDownloaded without any problem at all.

The features announced at WWDC: if even half of those made it, I'll be a happy camper.
