copying until certain point of degree is acceptable but when a company doesn't come with their own ideas an all that company does is copied the other company then for me that is completely unacceptable, I have self esteem and dignity. I'll be completely embarrassed if I dress like my neighbor and get the same haircut, talk like him or act like him, I like being different, that is what separate me from the others and that is what makes me unique but if you like windows then that's fine with me I respect your taste but I personally can't stand windows anymore, I admit maybe is a phycological problem. that os has a weird effect on me, it just infuriate me.

Windows has its own ideas. macOS has its own ideas. And they both copy heavily from each other and others too. The same applies to mobile phones, for example. I wonder what kind of metric you use to compare OSes? What is an "own idea"? That is very, very difficult to quantify.

Can you list the ideas that W10 has "stolen"? You claimed that it stole Night Shift from macOS. But then again, macOS stole it from IOS. IOS stole it from f.lux. So Apple was actually coping it too, but yet you only blame Windows for that...

I say: let them copy and improve as much as they can! That is also what makes Open Source so succesful: you share your knowledge so that others can improve FOR FREE!

Updated a 2012 15" cMBP, and its Boot ROM version changed from B0E to B15. Looks like the system works with NightShift too.

an apple user defending Microsoft Windows that is what is disingenuous, apple integrated that option into their os from a free third party app and anyway for what I know they might be similar in functionality but they don't look exactly the same, so night shift is more like a modified version of flux, I used windows for almost 20 years until I discovered Mac OS leopard then everything changed I started learning Mac os little by little I started moving to Mac OS until I finally didn't need or want windows any more then when Microsoft destroyed windows with fisher price blocks, with the merged 2 in 1 os it's a tablet or it's a computer I said enough is enough I moved on and never look back, you want to defend windows but the windows fans do not defend Mac OS but that's all right, there is no reason to get upset over that.

peace out

Nice long rant, but like I said, I dont get why you even care about what Windows does. I sure dont. I use a Mac (for now at least).
But if Apple keeps selling underpowered, aging computers, I may one day switch to
Windows, and I'll be happy that they did 'copy' some of the things I like about the Mac.

Anyone else having trouble playing live audio (e.g. BBC iPlayer radio, Classic FM) in Safari 10.1? It works fine with Chrome. The problem appeared with the first developer beta of 12.4, and has persisted ever since. I've reported it with each beta, and if it is a real bug, it's a bit shabby releasing the final version with a bug known from the first build still in it.

They need to make it snappier and battery friendly at the expense of usability, this is Apple today, and customers then will line up to bash chrome as memory hog lol. So basically it's either, "snappy & battery efficient" with broken features vs memory hog which works as expected, you pick.

Used Combo update on both a MacBook Air (13 inch, late 2010) 4GB and an iMac (27 inch, late 2009) 12GB with 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD.

First time around on the MBA, the update failed to register. It appeared to complete the 22 minute update after restart, but did not actually update. Selecting the Apple logo, then About this Mac still showed Version 10.12.3. I re-ran and this time it worked, requesting me to login to my iCloud account etc on completion.

There is nothing out-of-the-ordinary hardware-wise about this MBA. Avast Mac Security 2016, f.lux, Fitbit Connect, Macs Fan Control, NoSleep and unDock Now! are the only "specials" software-wise.

First time around on the iMac, after the 22 minute update after restart, the update got stuck on a totally blank white screen before any login screen or any logo or text for that matter. After over an hour without progress, I powered off and powered up with Shift to try a Safe Boot. This time, a dark grey Apple logo appeared with a 100% dark grey progress bar but again apparently locked up. I powered down and after the boot chime, held Command Option P R together until a second (much louder) boot chime, then released the keys. Finally, it booted up normally, requesting me to login to my iCloud account etc on completion. Because I was suspicious something may not have been correctly updated, I re-ran the entire process and this time it worked without hitch.

The only non-standard hardware in this iMac is the 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD. It also has 8GB of Crucial RAM in addition to the factory standard 4GB. Neither of these have caused any hitches whatsoever. The extra memory has been in place a couple of years; the SSD about six months.

Avast Mac Security 2016, f.lux, Fitbit Connect, OpenDNS Updater, Macs Fan Control and Xcode are the only "specials" software-wise.

All-in-all, one of the more painful upgrades I've performed on Apples in the last seven years, and this is only a minor / point release!

I don't want to count my chickens, but it appears as if Apple have fixed the problem I've been having ever since updating from El Capitan. Applications that made use of Apple's text APIs were unusable in macOS 10.2.2 and 10.2.3 (I didn't install .0 or .1). Appeared to be connected to running a large retina display as my MacBook Pro was fine.

I was prepared to go back to El Cap if it hadn't been fixed in this update, so I'm pretty pleased.

Shouldn't have happened in the first place, though...!

After a few reboots i finally was able to go get the combo installer and redo the install. This time removing all connected USB drives and hubs. It went through fine and didn't hang. Lesson learned. Unplug everything before doing an update. Hope nothing got messed up. Thankfully I have Time Machine to recover from if things go bad later.

I'm having a weird issue with the latest update. My late 2013 MacBook Pro 15 retina date and time get reset to the year 2040. I have to manually reset the time back and uncheck and check to update time and date automatically. Never happened before. Where can I submit a bug to Apple regarding this? Thanks.

No problem here, make a new user account, log into it and see if it persists there, if not you know where the problem lies (in your normal account).

Is anyone else having trouble with USB audio - my Microsoft LX-6000 headset is now unusable with this release. Used to work fine. Sound output through the headphones is badly broken. Headset plugged directly in my MacBook via either of the two USB ports. Rebooting doesn't help.

What surprises me the most is that my inlaw's Mid 2007 iMac is STILL receiving security updates from Apple.

For what it's worth, this update installed very smoothly on my 2010 Mac Pro. I cannot say the same for earlier versions of Sierra. My system is also noticably "snappier" and I'm no longer having the Gatekeeper issues I had in regards to installing 3rd party software. Aside from the lack of night shift mode on my model, I'm very pleased with this update.

Well that sucks. Thing just hang. Reboot and now no Apple logo nothing. Forced shut down reboot and PRAM it. Booted to recovery mode Guess I'll have to reinstall from scratch and restore from time machine.

I'm having the same problem with BBC Radio streaming on the new Safari. They worked at 6pm tonight. I installed 10.12.4 and now they don't work.

I've tried creating a new account and the streaming doesn't work on it either: I see the console, but the 'loading' message is permanent and no sounds result. I can't see anything in console logs.

I'm on a 2015 rMB.

Have they fixed the bug with the green button in windows yet? It's still, for some reason, making applications go full screen, thereby needlessly hiding essential items like the menu bar and dock for multitasking.

Also, cmd+x / cmd+v should allow me to cut and paste (move) files in the Finder.

It can accurately tell how much free space you have. Apple just defaults to something you didn't have in mind. But I have hard time understanding why this matters? So your drive now shows "458GB" instead of "453GB". What is the big deal that makes you ditch ALL other updates and new features in Sierra? Do you need constantly know the free space? You must be joking, right?

This was on a MacBook Air with 64G of storage. The different between what I had available and what Sierra said I had available was about 30% of my total storage, IIRC. If an OS cannot accurately tell me how much space is available, I have no use for it.

"Look at that shiny new car with all the bells and whistles. Never mind it only has 3 tires." :)

Although that mention of the purgeable space button being gone might mean they fixed it.

An hour and counting on reboot. MBP TB 2.7/16/512. Went through the upgrade quickly, but still waiting on the first reboot. Don't care about night shift. Should have passed. Losing valuable hours of production.
Update:
Yeah! Another 30 minutes passed and now less than a minute remaining! Of course that's been on the screen for the last 5 or so.
Update:
Now says 16 minutes remaining!

Worst update ever!

I cannot for the life of me get my Mac to force update to the latest public version. I removed myself from the beta program and everything, but my mac is not showing public release versions via the App store at all. Its still stuck on 10.12 Beta (16A313a) Any tips?? I appreciate it!!!

Just tried it out. The screen doesn't go red enough for me at night. I still prefer flux.

You need to download the full Sierra installer and use that. It's not possible to just use software update to go from 10.12 beta (as opposed to 10.12.1, 10.12.2, etc. betas).
