Does anyone tried on MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) version? I am running El Capetian without any issues. -Thanks

Can anyone tell me if it's faster than El Capitan? I didn't see any mentioning of that. It's really the only thing I care about.

Anyone has an idea why every damn App Store download does that? My connection is fast and works without a hiccup, yet I have never seen any MAS download run continuously. Never ever.

Looks like my job for tonight is my annual fresh install! It may not be necessary but I do it out of habit and to keep my mind at peace. Clearing out a year's worth of hidden cache and junk files feels good!
For me the best way to update to a major release is by doing a clean install.

Can I ask what your procedure is please on doing this? I want to do a fresh install, never have yet on the countless OS X installs I've done on my iMac

thanks

Hmm, don't know if anybody else has posted about this, but why is System Preferences icon layout such a mess - looks like row 2 doesn't have enough room for Startup Disk so its wrapped to a new line...?

It's in the 4th row with Users & Groups in El Capitan, otherwise my EC 2nd row is the same as yours. Huh.
Oh, wait. App Store has also moved up to the 3rd row from the 4th.

Yeah - I thought it was just like that in the beta versions, and that it would be fixed for release, but sadly not... btw, I'm using it on an old white MacBook (late 2009) if that makes any difference - with an SSD and it runs great :)

This is how it looks on non retina display with optical drive
The english version compared to German.

The german version is a bit wider

While it may not be technically necessary, it will give you a baseline starting point for troubleshooting purposes when testing applications.

If you are report bugs to Apple or a vendor, they are more likely to look into something if they can recreate it. If you say: "Clean install, ran all updates, installed application X, updated with Y patch, issue Z happens if I follow these next steps", they should be able to recreate the exact conditions.

If however you start with a system that has been upgraded over and over with 2 dozen apps installed, they certainly won't be able to do so.

It's also fun to see how fast it starts up and shuts down before you start adding applications. In some cases it's amazing.

Unlike El Capitan, macOS Sierra does not support Java v6, not even as a manual download. So if you're still using apps that require that (such as bought-and-paid-for versions of Adobe Creative Suite 3–6)... you probably don't want to upgrade your OS. Your other options are to start paying Adobe monthly for the right to use Creative Cloud, or to switch to Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, which are affordable, high-functional replacements for Photoshop and Illustrator.

Is that for real? Any idea if Adobe are going to release an update?

Just build a bootable USB. Run it, go to disk utilities then wipe your drive, then install.
errrmmm how please? is there a utility somewhere? how do I get the install file for MacOS though as well?

what backup procedures do you do beforehand? what should I backup manually?

sorry never done it before

It appears you have a CD/DVD in or attached to your machine. That is the one icon I don't have and I don't have any CD/DVD drives on my 2013 MacPro. So the System Preferences seem to be set up for only 8 icons per line.

Just upgraded and got back 70GB of space. This has to be the best one, yet. Only got 30GB back with the last upgrade. This is awesome!

I've replied to your DM. Read it carefully and BACK UP, BACK UP, BACK UP! :D

I always wanted to do that. I just don't know how to uninstall VMWARE, Office 2016 and Adobe. Are there any websites that would highlight the "unregistering" process? Thanks for your help.
From the few times I've uninstalled Lightroom I think you want to unregister in the app before you uninstall. Usually under the Help tab. As for deleting apps I always use AppCleaner but there are other programs that do the same thing. It just finds all the little files that would otherwise be left behind.

Does "universal clipboard" overwrite the existing clipboard items on other connected devices? Or is it a collection of copied/cut items like the clipboard task-pane in MS Office?

I can confirm. After reading this I disconnected my Super Drive and the icon disappeared.

Aha - found a good solution... With System Prefs open, just go to the 'View' menu and choose to 'Customise'... you can then turn off CDs & DVDs, so it is hidden and the icons all line up nicely as if I am using a newer mac :)

It certainly feels faster on my 2012 MBPR. Perhaps there's some improvements for the Metal API. Some casual games seem more responsive.
