I feel like this calmed down my Intel Mac quite a bit. Not as good as the year before, but the fans spin up less insanely often now.

Every since updating to 26.6 I can no longer VNC into my Macs from Windows or iOS apps (e.g. RealVNC).

RealVNC throws the error "Protocol error: key length too large".

macOS-based Screen Sharing between macs works fine, but it seems something changed with the built-in VNC server.
Hey...

I created an account here just to reply to this.

I had the same problem. I'm used to RealVNC 7.15.1, but unfortunately the new RealVNC subscription/licensing model does not really match my... beliefs. 🙂

So, here is a patch for RealVNC 7.15.1 (r18) on Windows. It's a PowerShell script that fixes the issue:

macOS did nothing wrong. This was a RealVNC bug/issue.

You may need to adapt the patch for your RealVNC version. I couldn't find an official place to download the latest 7.x release.

d3cker
