Mine just updated, Haven't tried them yet to see if anything with sound or ANC has changed, but it did prompt the 'Whats new' pop up to appear.

Hello
Have been a quiet observer for some time and just made an account to ask a question.
I'm an android user and have airpods pro 2's (with USB-C). I always use an iPhone of some friend to update mine but since some time, the case firmware doesn't update anymore/is stuck. My airpods are now at 7A302 but the case is stuck at version 65.something.
Anybody ever had that problem? (maybe they are not connected long enough to update the case, haven't tried connecting them to an iphone via cable, which apparently is a thing now)
best regards

My airpods are now at 7A302 but the case is stuck at version 65.something.
I don’t know what the significance of the case version is, if anything. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I recall people on here previously saying their case version number had gone down during an upgrade. Mine is currently 70.87.0.

My noise reduction in airpods pro 2 works like contact mode with one difference: it slightly muffles the surroundings, nothing else. The voice of the interlocutor, passing cars, etc. can be heard as if in contact mode. regular AirPods Pro work like earplugs in noise reduction mode, whereas in the 2nd generation they don't work at all.

People with noise cancellation reduction need to take theirs to an Apple Store for tests.

Reason, I have had 4 buds replaced over the course of 18 months because I commute a lot and notice noise cancellation been reduced but still works. To be fair everything still works apart from the noise cancellation and I can tell as it seems a little of balance when it happens almost like one side is slightly reduced.

Every time I get that feeling I took them in for tests and every time one of the buds have failed the test that apple does. And replace that bud.

When the bud gets replaced i always get my full noise cancellation back even when the bud updates to the latest firmware.

I think there is some sort of design flaw where the mic or something degrades. I have tried many things to prevent this and every time I end up with a faulty unit. The thing I am trying now is not
To use them for running as two things lots of impact and sweat may be entering them. Time will tell.

But anyone who things their noise cancellation is poor go get them checked as when it happens the noise cancellation still works 80% effective
I don't have an Apple Store, only an authorized service. And I wonder if it would give something if I carried it. Would they accept them for warranty, would I also have to pay for service ... and in terms of price it is better to buy new ones than to give for repair

Mine keep randomly disconnecting. I hope this fixes it.
Mine STARTED disconnecting randomly (as in, open my AirPods Pro 2 case near my iPhone and suddenly get "Not your AirPods" screen) AFTER this firmware update was installed (I believe).

Ok so have spent today with my APP2 updated to 7A304. I don't like it.

OFF sounds like having cheap ear plugs in.

TRANSPARANCY working as expected.

ADAPTIVE now becomes like Transparency. Prior it was full ANC until I spoke for example, then now entirely gone.

NOISE CANCELLATION tyres of cars have become louder. A pedestrian walking past speaking on their phone wasn't suppressed at all, as was the case when I had 6F8.

Music wise I find the mid bass a tad overly strong and the highs shrilly. I know others have complemented the change as having opened up those highs.

I don't know what's happening with Adaptive quite honestly as it seems (for me) quite broken and acting like the Transparency mode.

Same here. Before on conversion awareness it would change to transparency but now it more adaptive. Don’t like it

My music now sounds more

I'm spiderman. Because after the update with ANC on, I can hear external sounds.
Same here. Just got off a flight and I heard the people talking two rows up. Didn’t have that on the flight down a week ago.
And the pods keep on disconnecting every 10min or so. Reconnecting, it finding the music, only one connecting. For me, this update has been a mess. If they would have behaved like that out of the box o would return them. It I know that they can work just fine for over a year.

Not trolling at all. Microphone goes very low or off, can't get it back without forgetting airpods and re-pairing. Left or right airpod has no sound. Pairing drops without warning. These are widespread issues. Anyone not having issues may be using only one phone, one mac, etc. I have 2 iphones, 2 macs, personal and corporate, 3 different apple accounts. It's almost a joke now to join a conference call and people are asking if they can be heard, because they can't trust their airpod pros.

Do others have an issue with APPro2 disconnecting. ?

Exactly. Just quoting two from this thread to say this is something lots of people have — random drop-outs, with a reconnection some seconds later. It happens on my iPhone and Watch so it is a the 'Pods (unless the way the Bluetooth stack is written/compiled, across Apple devices…). Usually doesn't happen till about 45 minutes nor so. Unpairing and a factory reset fixes it, but the fix is temporary. I am still on 7A294, but have no reason to believe 7A302 will be the silver bullet.

Of many from a Google search from Reddit: maybe we're a minority, but there are a lot of us.

I upgraded from the original Pros to the Pro 2s when this started to happen, thinking it was a sign the originals were close to end-of-life. In time the Pro 2s started doing it too.

The only other commonality I can think of is using Overcast (the podcasts app); I can't see what Overcast would be doing, but it is using one app for an extended period without a break.

Have you guys tried reseting your AirPods? Just got the update on my Pro 2 and I'm experiencing the slightly reduced ANC, noticed the noise attenuation takes a bit longer. I imagine that's a liability issue protecting against lawsuits. Another "this is why we can't have nice things evolution". Also the more punchy mid bass. On lossless it sounds pretty good to me across music genres I listen to.

That disconnected bug is happening to me as well. Transparency doesn’t work as well as it used to, and Noise Cancellation isn’t as good, and Adaptive is more like transparency.

Yup exactly what I have since the update yesterday, minus disconnection issues. Any links to Apple to file such an issue?

Mine is kind of the opposite. Transparency doesn't seem to work at all. No difference between transparency and "Off". But Adaptive sounds like Transparency SHOULD sound.

What issues are you having? Mine have been par for the course.
Mine take forever to sync and start playing audio when connected to my latest gen Apple TV. I took several cross country airplane rides last week and numerous times the ANC stopped working. They never used to do that. Hopefully, 7A302 firmware fixes the ANC drops. Then there is the constant "hello, are you there, hello, hello, hellllloooooo????" when I answer a phone call with my iPhone 15 Pro. It gets so F'g old. What happened to the days of these damn things just working immediately??? Starting to remind me of Siri on my big HomePods...OMG!

I have the new AirPods 4 w/ANC and I’m on a beta release and I wonder if the update will fix the graphic not showing up when I open the case nearby. When I tried to pair them the onscreen box opened up but there was no text or anything so I had to pair them using the Bluetooth menu in settings.
