That's another thing that often gets kicked around online -- how "Apple isn't listening"...
Do you think Apple can read your mind?
I really wish someone would organize a letter writing campaign on the subject. (Yeah, a real letter.) But I guess it's easier to just whine and make out you're a "victim" 'cause "the man", he don't listen, etc. And yes, I'm aware of the fact that Apple doesn't want "
suggestions" due to legal problems, etc. Just do it.
You seriously think apple could possibly be completely unaware that people are interested in an expandable headless machine?
And you don't think users have contacted Apple about this? The whole of the mac user community never would have thought of getting in touch with them until you gave us the idea?
It's public knowledge that apple doesn't generally listen to consumer demand. Jobs himself has admitted it - he thinks he knows what customers need/want more than they do themselves.
What people?
What do you mean, you want names or something.
I'm saying that people exist that want a budget machine. You don't dispute that?
So, it's not that it's "overpriced" it's just that it doesn't match your wants and needs. As far as the consumer being a "victim" because features "are forced" on you, I'd love to have a $2000 BMW and I bet if I could go to the factory I could put one together for that price by leaving off some the features I don't need or want. I'd rather an 8-track than the expensive factory installed sound system for example. Darn those capitalist pigs!
No, it IS overpriced for what many people want AND it doesn't match the wants and needs of most buyers in that price range.
Sure, for someone who absolutely needs a tiny machine, it's not that bad a deal. But way more people just want a decent machine at a decent price, but the mini is all that apple offers in that price range. For users who don't care about "mini", the mini is overpriced.
And I'm not sure why you have "victim" in quotes, I never used that term. And I'm not sure why you have "forced" in quotes either, if you want the fastest CPU, you are forced to get the bigger screen, HD, and more ram with it, aren't you?
Other computer companies give customers more choices of combinations of features, letting them get exactly what they want and leave out unnecessary things to save money. Apple doesn't do BTO as well as others. Seems like a legitimate complaint to me, what's your problem with it (other than simply wanting to bring up silly comparisons involving 8 tracks that aren't remotely analagous)?
