Everyone says that. I must just be a massive media consumer, cause I feel like I use pretty much all of iTunes.

It's also really hard to call iTunes bloated when you're loading it off an SSD...especially when you consider that it isn't uncommon for a website to take up 100 MB of RAM.

Not getting this odd blend of colors in the title of the artist's page in "artists" view... Sometimes the colors are a blend of the first couple albums in the list, other times they are a blend of random albums. It doesn't change when you play a different song. I definitely prefer the white titles that previously were used.

Also, anyone feel the traffic light controls seem just a little too far to the left?

EDIT: It seems that the colors on the title represent the first album alphabetically. However in some cases this doesn't look great, especially with white text on a lightish background, or black text on a darkish background.

Haven't seen this reported anywhere else, but in the newest beta, the Artist View shows a banner image, reminiscent of the Album View.

Check out the release dates on this image: Image

No release date in the list view, and a really dumb release date in the info window.

By the way, that info window completely destroys my workflow. I used to be able to tab tab tab, copy, tab, paste, tab, type year, tab, paste etc. Now, half the fields don't appear until you close and re-open the info window. It's not an improvement, not at all :(

(And yes, I've reported this to Apple.)

Your first problem is trying to use iTunes to edit video metadata. Save yourself the hassle and use a 3rd party program that knocks everything out in one fell swoop. I use MP4Tools for 95% of conversion I need done, Handbrake for stuff that actually needs full-blown conversion, then I dump it into iVI which I use only to edit the metadata (Info Only conversion mode) as I've not been even close to impressed with it's ability as a converter, but it's pretty solid for metadata. I get TV show artwork here: http://iart.toaos.tk

Also, I haven't used iTunes 12 since swapping out my 2013 rMBP for the 2014 rMBP, but have they done anything to make it easier to switch between Songs, Artists, and Albums views in the music section? I hate that it's a drop down now. I tried finding keyboard shortcuts but wasn't able to figure that out. Frustrating.

Many of the iTunes 11 bugs, particularly in search, seemed sorted out in 12, so I was generally happy with the update relative to how excited anyone can get over an iTunes update these days. I think the program gets a bit more flack than it deserves, but it's long been one of the weaker, buggier applications from Apple.

iTunes is nice and all, but my god is it bloated. I must use like 10% of its features.

They need to just start again. The interface is terrible, it was designed for music, not books, movies etc.

Why the hell is it still called iTunes? Tunes is only part of what it does (badly).

They removed the season picker when viewing TV shows.
Used to be right at the top next to the artwork so you could instantly move to the season you wanted.
Now you just have to scroll through the long list of episodes.

This definition almost works:

tune (verb)
Adjust or adapt (something) to a particular purpose or situation: The animals are finely tuned to life in the desert.

If only iTunes was finely tuned...

I was about to ask you why you linked to iTunes.com 3 times, but now I'm just confused.

Since when did MacRumors start doing this, and what purpose could this possibly serve?

Go to the thread called

Yosemite GM build 14A379a delta update link

in Mac Development and subforum OS X Betas (note you have to be paid up to the mac developer program to access this subforum, not just registered as a developer)

and scroll down to reply #11

There are 5 files there, not just 1. You have to install all 5 of them.

Beautiful, thank you!

Now the obvious question: is this "safe" to use on my new rMBP? ;)

I got this version of iTunes when I did the Yosemite GM 1 update, as part of it, which is probably why I don't see it as a separate update anywhere. And I'm using it on an rMBP.

Whilst some version of itunes may be bundled with a full installer of OS X, itunes updates are generally separate to OS X updates, and this it true for yosemite developer previews as well as public releases of previous versions.

The current build of itunes 12 is 12.0.0.140 so you might want to check that.

So glad

They fixed the bug I was having with the movie tab being inaccessible.

Peace has been restored to the galaxy. :apple:

When is iTunes going to warm up to network support, and keeping the library on an external, or networked volume?

Sorry, sarcastic (sarcástico) and ironic (irônico) have nearly the same semantics in portuguese. Actually it's just a matter of preference using one or another.

That's interesting. In a predominantly English speaking country, "Sarcasm" and "Irony" have very different uses.

I did check it - that's the version which came with the full Yosemite GM install, that's why I posted.

OK. Well it just means that apple are getting all developers and public beta testers up to the same version of itunes regardless of the method they used to update.

iTunes used to be nice and simple : music purchases, music listening and sync to iPod. Now its about ready to make coffee.

iTunes needs to be split into more logical constituents.

That way it will become more user-friendly and maybe less bug-prone.
