I wonder if I will be able to finally sync media to my phone as opposed to having to manually move it all?

Has anyone figured out if its possible manually move books or can they only be synced?

Anyone else having issues inserting lyrics that are more than one line?

Yeah major issues with lyrics. You can only add one line to a song that has no lyrics. Any song that has existing lyrics cannot be edited at all. Very frustrating.

Check out the release dates on this image: Image

No release date in the list view, and a really dumb release date in the info window.

By the way, that info window completely destroys my workflow. I used to be able to tab tab tab, copy, tab, paste, tab, type year, tab, paste etc. Now, half the fields don't appear until you close and re-open the info window. It's not an improvement, not at all :(

(And yes, I've reported this to Apple.)

NOOOOO!!! I need the old box for the same reasons as you do!

It will be interesting to see what the system requirements will be for iTunes 12.
Will it be Yosemite or higher for OS X and Windows XP or higher?
It won't matter for my MacPro 1,1 because I am already running Windows 10 64 bit on it so I can meet any system requirments that Apple puts out now... As long as it's Windows, OS X, forget about it.

I wonder if it's possible to use an older version of iTunes with newer versions of OSX, as this update sounds like a great improvement from the comments so far. /sarcasm

What exactly is "improved playlists" supposed to mean? Specifically?

I haven't heard of a single improvement or even change to how it handles playlists. And I'll bet it still won't handle nested playlists with iTunes match.

I'd like to know that, too. There is a frequent quote "You can now see your full library and playlists side by side, making it even easier to add your favorite songs to playlists."

This grows the fear in me that this is nothing but an reintroduced feature that we always had before when having the sidebar always on. Then it was possible to be in the (All) "music" library and having the playlists nested below that.
What actually would be useful is the reintroduction of multiple playlits. I cannot compare two lists ATM and I also cannot add entries elsewhere than to the end of a list with a single drag. I first have to append things into a "black box", then move the view there and then I can sort the items. Annoying.

Besides Yosemite, what other OS Xes will this be available for?
I ask because I have Snow Leopard.

iTunes 12 will only release for OS X Yosemite.

It's bundled with Yosemite and they wouldn't want previous OS X users to have iTunes 12 since it would not be consistent.

Not to mention previous OS X releases do not have the coding to use blurs and other graphical details OS X Yosemite has that iTunes 12 needs.

The blurring is automatic when using standard OS elements. That's why many third party applications already look at home in Yosemite.

iTunes 12 will be released for older OS releases too. I would be very surprised if it didn't.

Then prepare to be surprised.

Just looks worse and worse every time they mess with it.

iTunes 10.7 was the last good iTunes, IMHO. And that is/was far from perfect.

I'm still using Mountain Lion on my main machine, but when I eventually go to Mavericks it might be when I finally ditch iTunes altogether for most purposes if the current trend continues.

Since when has In the Court of the Crimson King been available on iTunes?

Since now apparently. ITCOTCK, Red and Larks Tongues are all showing up in the UK store. Mr Fripp had a change of heart? And now back to the iTunes 12 beta thread.

iTunes is nice and all, but my god is it bloated. I must use like 10% of its features.

iTunes needs to be split into at least two apps:

1. Content management. Let me use it to manage my content, just like Aperture manages my photos. I don't want all the extra stuff. Just let me watch/listen to stuff.

2. "The" Store. Make the "Apple Store" the music store, the app store, the movie store, the iOS store, all in one. Give me a single app to BUY stuff, but let iTunes just go back to keeping my music collected.

If you run iTunes from within a VM of Windows on Yosemite, no problem...you can always go back to the versions that were living since the start of that version of OS X (Mountain Lion had iTunes 10.7 if memory serves).

It seems like Apple is making iTunes more and more about consuming media, and less and less about managing/curating your media, which in my experience is the exact opposite of the way it should be going.

I don't actually watch or listen to any of my media from iTunes on my computer anymore; that's what I use Apple TVs, iPhones, iPads, and iPods for. But, I do MANAGE all that media with iTunes, yet those are the features that are disappearing! It seems the sidebar isn't even an option anymore, and the list views (the only actual useful views) and info/details windows are less and less useful. Very worried about this trend.

The time is well past for someone to develop a robust media manager that interacts with your iTunes Library. iTunes is a necessary evil for the personal sharing of media across the Apple ecosystem, but it's utter rubbish at letting you curate/manage it.

I think a third party app designed for curation (metadata tagging, sorting, filtering, organizing) that reads from/writes to the iTunes library would be a very welcome tool. Anyone know of software like that?

iTunes used to be nice and simple : music purchases, music listening and sync to iPod. Now its about ready to make coffee.

iTunes needs to be split into more logical constituents.

That way it will become more user-friendly and maybe less bug-prone.

If it made coffee, that would be the best new feature since Genius Shuffle. :p

I am totally on board with blowing up iTunes and starting over. Is there any alternative to it for managing your iPhone though? I really don't know how each iteration of this software passes any of Apple's usual standards.

There is a vbulletin mod that automatically creates links in a post from certain words. Macrumors may be testing the mod, as there is no inherent bug like this in vbulletin.

But do you like it?

I hate it! - Just like as if it were a bug.

So even if it is not a bug, I'm still going to call it a bug.
