Another firmware update I will never get. My battery is still on the slow ass old firmware.
Guess I need to go to a Starbucks and bribe someone with an Apple laptop with some avocado and toast.

Yes, I have an iPhone, iWatch, and AppleTV. No, I do not have any Apple computers.
AppleTVs have a USB-C port on the back....would be interesting to try plugging into that and see what happens? I know it's supposed to only be used as a recovery port, but I also never expected that the USB-C port on my iPad would update the charger...but it did.

Unless you plug this into your Mac to update it over the cable, how does it actually update? How would the firmware be transmitted from your phone to the charger via MagSafe? My understanding is that there is no data transmission between the two devices.

I wonder if the charger firmware enables it to cook a meal or serve coffee somehow, otherwise what's the point? /s

My phone chimed twice this morning, first when attaching MagSafe, second what seems like 10-20 seconds later.

At first I thought the alignment somehow slipped after putting the magnetically paired devices down, but no, they were still centrally aligned.

Maybe when the firmware’s updated, the MagSafe reboots and briefly stops charging causing a second chime on the phone when it resumes.
I returned my iPhone 14 Pro Max and got a refund in the end as they didn’t have any replacements. Ordered a new one but got to wait however it would maybe 3 - 4 times an hour chime on MagSafe from starting / stopping charging. Wondering if it’s actually a MagSafe issue but couldn’t find others suffering this issue so for once didn’t feel like it was software. Just not sure if enough people would notice as if charging overnight it’s likely on silent and you won’t notice.

That's how it worked for me. I wasn't getting the update so I plugged the thing into my MacBook. About 10 to 20 seconds later, I heard a second chime and thanks to your post I knew that meant it was installed. Confirmed it in Settings immediately after. I bought this thing at the same time as my new iPhone when the 14 models came out and I had no idea it had this kind of complexity to it.
