I had my MagSafe charger in my 2018 MacBook 15 inch pro. No change with either the phone attached to puck or without phone attached (looking at USB system report). Does it need the phone connected to the puck while it is connected to MacBook. I came in and the puck went uncharging to the phone so have left in just the puck an looking at the system report currently. I seem to remember last time I just left it all plugged in but it has been a bit since the last update.

UPDATE: I decided to reboot the MacBook and then looked at the MagSafe charger. It was not connected. So I disconnected it and then put back in and shortly it reappeared in the USB system report and it was updated to the 255 (shows as a 2.55 in this readout. I guess MacBook was needing a reboot refresh or something but now all is well.

Used a A to C adapter and plugged it into my Catalina 2013 mbp and by the time I opened System Information it said just 255, so I guess it properly updated, no .0.0.0 (who knows)

Lol seriously, I know by the web site name “Macrumors” they mean it verrrrrrry, broadly, but this is broader than broad.

I noticed that Safari was running snappier after the MagSafe firmware update. I wonder if this will be auto moderated like every other time I say "Safari is running snappier"...

I could not get the firmware to install until I had MagSafe attached to MacBook Pro USB-C port AND MacBook Pro on its own charger AND MacBook Pro connected to the internet. Then the install happened quickly.

Mine was like that except until I rebooted my macbook it would not do the firmware update. I also had to unplug the MagSafe charger after the reboot and plug it back in for the MacBook to see it, but almost instantly the update finally happened. I know some did not need to do this but I suppose it was just one of those times after a long time of not rebooting I needed to clear something out?
