OS X is looking more awesome day by day...

Apple is paying a lot of attention to specific details; more than ever I should say.

But will they fix the complete cluster**** that is the sidebar?

MobileMe account + Gmail account = total mess

Haha yea I guess I'm so used to it that I never paid too much attention to it. But now that you mention it, it's probably the most Microsoft-esque UI element in OS X. Not very different from Outlook - nested folders inside of nested folders :(

Please don't take offense - I mean this sincerely....

I will never accuse you again of blind allegiance to "all things Apple", nor be silent if I see someone else make the accusation.

Thank you. But really, it looks very un-Apple. It's been this way for years, and I find it incredibly annoying.

If Apple's decided to step up their copying or "borrowing" or whatever you want to call the thing they do to make existing features even better, they should copy Sparrow or something. Sparrow is art. And if you play around with Sparrow's interface, it's all so obvious. So natural.

The iPad uses some elements from Mail.app's sidebar. Except they make a lot of sense in iPad's mail app. There's a clean separation of accounts, especially the choice to either operate straight from the inboxes, or to use each account natively with native features. Makes perfect sense.

Enough with the rant. Thank God there are so many other *good* things about Lion.

But you can hide them. I got two mobileme folders and like 20 gmail folders. There's no other way i guess.

No problem -
I've posted this before. You've obviously been a mac guy for some time - simply keep 10.5 or 10.6 on a partition somewhere so you can boot to it as needed. Small external drives are cheap, or you might have a hard drive laying around.

One clear benefit over win machines is the option key on boot to select boot partition.

Ya, but it would be nice if Apple opened up the code for older OSs like 9.2 so we could get some 3rd party DosBox like options going. It's not like the emulation would eat up that much of a modern computers resources. Sandbox it like virtualbox, VMware, or Parallels and there shouldn't be to many issues.

It'd be nice to run older applications concurrently.

Right Click Bug

A bug still exists where after a restart or a period of sleep, the right click from the bottom right-corner of the trackpad will not work, but it will work from the bottom left, so it switches for some reason. I restarted after an HP printer update and the right click is switched to the bottom left corner instead of bottom right.

EDIT: This switches after EVERY restart. Bottom right click switches to left, even though the option is set to right in trackpad. I have to re-select "Click in bottom right corner" for it to be where it was before. Weird.

I've been running Lion exclusively since DP4's release and apart from Mail and a few very minor glitches, it's very stable and everything runs as it should.

However, taking a screenshot with Grab of an element of an app that's full screen is proving more difficult than I thought.

Question:

is there a console command or any way to speed up the auto-hide feature of the Dock? There is a noticeable delay before it pops up after mouseover. This has existed in OS X for years (or at least as far back as I can remember.)

What trouble are you having with screen shots in full screen mode? Shift-Command-3 or 4 work fine for me in full screen, at least tested in Safari.

Wow you people weren't kidding, the newest build of Safari is a real stinker. Not only does the "scroll back/forward pages" gesture seem to break at random times, they also have removed the ability to hide the tab bar in fullscreen.

Before there was an option that would hide the tab bar just like the bookmark bar when your cursor was not at the top of the screen. I really preferred this because it's another 20 precious pixels wasted on my MBA 11. I don't always need to see the tab bar, I don't get why they would remove it as an option. :(

Still no Rosetta?

There will be no Rosetta.

I'm able to hide the tab bar. The option is available under the View menu.

Weird, it is greyed out for me. I am gonna reset my settings in Safari and see if it fixes it.

Also, are you sure we are talking about the same thing? I am talking about the tab bar hiding in fullscreen when you have multiple open. I am not trying to hide it with just one tab open, which has been a feature in Safari forever.

I can't wait for the release!! They need to promote a release date already!!:apple:

July 30.

When it's released sooner, you'll be happily surprised.

I can't wait for the final release, I'm hoping its sooner then later, but I still don't know how they can have it ready for even July, there just seems to be too many issues even with the latest Developer Preview..

I don't remember this from previous builds; you can hover over links in Mail to get a preview:

after installing the latest update, my swiping between pages gesture keeps breaking if i scroll at all. is this happening to anyone else? cuz this is REALLY annoying

Performance

Is it me, or has anyone noticed that the graphic performance on a 2009 Macbook Pro 13" (with the nVidia 9400m) is pretty bad. Like the opening of the folders in Launchpad and Expose are incredibly laggy for me.

Even after this update :(
