anyone know why mine is still saying 1.1.4 is the newest version. Did apple pull the 2.0???
Mine says the same. Apparently, Apple pulled it down(severs were too busy). Funny no place on the Apple website does it say they pulled it

Yeah...You would think that Apple would at least let us know that it has been pulled and give us a time frame for when it will be back up. That way i am not sitting here hitting the "Check for Update" button all day. :)

*sigh* No one has a clue what "bricking" a device means. It means your device is toast, 100% unrecoverable... dead forever and ever. Like when you flash a router with 3rd party firmware and it fails, and there's no way to recover it.. you bricked your router.

Your iPhones are NOT bricked! Because they're always recoverable later.

Please, please put this comment in a sticky one each page of this thread. I've had to repeat "Your iPhone is not bricked" to about seven people today!

i have an iPod Touch and it says update. but when i click update, it goes to itunes store and the right back to iPod screen. it does not say anything about not being able to access the itunes store and its not upgraded either. is anyone else having this problem?

Just downloaded after several unsuccessful attempts - now it's taking it's sweet time restoring, verifying, etc. It downloaded in about 7-10 minutes.

YES! This is happening to me right now... Which is an improvement from last time!

My 2.0 upgrade experience...

Downloaded software this morning via iTunes before work ;)

Once at work came to this thread, decided waiting to upgrade was prudent

Downloaded software from link provided by tjcampbell as a backup

Left work, had dinner, got home, checked thread again, looked like the time was right

Started upgrade at @ 5:07PM

Had 1014 error, restored :( (iTunes wanted to restore to 1.1.4, so I let it download and try, failed, option-clicked Restore in iTunes and opened 1,1 2.0 for a successful restore :D)

Upgrade completed @ 6:08PM :D

Installed Remote @ 6:14PM :apple:

BTW, one of the waiters at the place I had dinner had just gotten a white 3G from the Freehold Apple Store... said it took 5 hours. He switched from a Blackberry Curve. :apple:

I have been having the same exact problem, but what I am wondering if any iPod Touch users have been able to update their iPods

iPhone v2.0

I live in Kansas City, MO. Tried the check update in iTunes 7.7 and it worked flawlessly. It took about 25min for the software to be updated.

I'm pretty sure that v 2.0 isn't jailbroken yet. I've been trying all day to do this update. C'mon steve I want you to take my money. Why won't you accept it!! lol but hopefully this whole thing smoothes over by tomorrow because i really want those games.

I am seriously starting to think that it will be cleared up soon.

I just got mine set up no problem. Took maybe 25 minutes to do everything. Apps and everything syncs up fine.

with Software Update?

I only got my iPod touch about a week ago.
Do I still have to pay for the 2.0 software?
(When the link stops being ghey, this is)

10 Minute Upgrade - No Problems

I had downloaded 7.7 earlier this week, and when I got home this evening, I plugged the phone in selected Available Update and it said 2.0 available. I selected download and install. 10 Minuntes later the phone was upgraded, all of my data and settings were restored, except for my phone's screen, which is not saved by any process apparently. Phone worked great. I got VM's and text messages that were happening while the phone was upgraded.

I then proceeded to setup my work Exchange email and I am now synching my work email, which is my primary reason for doing the upgrade. It's working great!

Looks like waiting til the evening paid off.

Good Luck to Everyone
