Everything has been working great except for two things. First, Norton Antivirus started taking up 235% of my CPU. Turned my fans on my MBA and everything. Crazy.

Second, battery life seems horrible. I am at 60% and it says I have 3 hours of battery life left on my 2015 MBA. On 10.11.0 it would have said about 7-9 hours left. Have no idea what it going on but I hope it's just acting a bit screwy for now and this isn't permanent.

A reason then to get rid of Norton... Jebus, i wouldn't even put that on a Windoze machine, let alone a Mac, which doesn't actually need it...???

Whilst I'm here... Are the Logic AU's validating NI plugins correctly in 10.11.1??? If someone who's tried, could confirm, I'd be grateful.

Sitting here, finger hovering over the update button. But a little hesitant until the above is confirmed as OK.

I was going to clean install but the thought of going through it all from scratch and the day I've had, and expecting tomorrow, it's probably not the best idea.

Very true... I uninstalled it on my Mac. I bought it for my gaming PC. Which I basically only play games on, but it has been extremely useful. The new Windows Norton is not like the old. It is actually quite good. After having my gaming pc for about 2 months it found three or four problems. So, I thought I'd give it a try on my MBA which I got in March.

Not a single problem found (and I visit some pretty questionable sites, but not on my pc!).

Could barely believe it. I do like the new Windows 10, but it has significant faults that I refuse to switch over because of.

I mean, I basically only game on my pc but somehow have malware and viruses. Seriously?

I know viruses exist for Mac, but at this point I feel like I would almost have to put in effort to TRY to get one lol.

Confirmed working great.

Very unlikely since the issue with validating the NI plugins has to do with SIP and will probably require an update from NI to address it. You didn't mention what you're upgrading from; if it's 10.10 then do not upgrade.

New emoji's. Wow! I don't get why that's heralded as something that is seemed to be earth shattering and revolutionary. I couldn't care less.

If I were to disable SIP will that help or avoid the issue? Thankfully, haven't yet pressed, was literally about to, as your reply came through. Ooooo-ya!

Moving up from 10.10 btw.

I really hope this fixes the issues with Microsoft Office 2016. That whole fiasco really took the shine off the El Capitan roll out --- I'm never being an 'early adopter' to a new OS release again

Do not disable SIP. Please. Ever.

Instead, use the beta drivers here if you really "need" to upgrade:

I updated to 10.11.1 earlier today (download size was something like 1.2 GB).

However, the App Store tells me now that there is a new update available again, the 6GB one. That's very confusing! What am I supposed to do to make this 'doublet' update go away? Will the updater eventually realize that I'm already running the latest version.

I also noticed that the icons are actually from Yosemite except the latest. What's wrong with Apple?

Emojis are for stupid people that don't know how to express themselves using words. But I guess Apple has their priorities in order. At least for their current market. Same reason they changed their front cameras to "Selfie" cameras I guess.

If Apple wanted to do something constructive, they'd add Twitch emotes to OS X's native text input.

Only issue I still have(since 10.11 release day)is, when VPN is turned on safari bogs down on most sites or freezes all together. Chrome works fine as before. WTF!
