What the f&*K is wrong with Apple??!!! For the second time, El Capitan has screwed up my mail! This time all my saved Mailboxes that hold my Mail Archives are GONE in the Mail program. I went onto the disc to my Library and found them there, but why are they not available inside Mail. I am trying an import, but there is no reason in Heaven, Hell or Earth that this should happen! JEESH!!!!!!!!

Next time try rebuilding the Mail Database first. Often is a simple, fast, and effective solution. Databases are a bit fragile in general when it comes to structural change. Although I agree one should not have to, it is not uncommon to need to rebuild Mail if/when stuff is missing.

Typically your content is technically there, but not displayed/visible.....no unlike needed to occasionally rebuild the Spotlight index when search is not working correctly.

The easiest way around the deletion would be to copy the app to a different folder and move it back to Applications after the install is finished. I keep spare copies of all the OS X installers I've "Purchased" from the App Store.

Yep. Just make a copy before you run it.

External HD or flash drive...build an archive and save the time and bandwidth to download on every machine.

I'll bite a little. A lot of the language characters in Unicode have been around for 100's, if not 1000's of years. Look through some of the stupid crap in these emojii (is that right?) and see how many will be unrecognizable in 50 years, or less. It's just a silly thing (to me) to be passing on to our ancestors.

The middle finger has been and always will be around until the demise of man. In fact, the last man on earth will probably die giving whatever it is that's killing him/her the middle finger!

Does it install firmware updates for things that require it, or is it some kind of an incremental thing that installs on any system which runs the updater? Reason I ask is that this is the first time I'm hearing of this firmware updater, and I'm not sure what kind of purpose it would serve if I'm running it on a 5+ year old system...

Apple aren't quite forthcoming about this fact. But EVERY os x update since 10.10.2 (all betas and public releases) have been acompanied by a fimware update - without exception so far.

They don't appear in the mac app store seperately (unless it is a standalone firmware update NOT accompanied by an os x update).

But if you go to your library/updates folder as you begin to download an os x update via the MAS, you will see a new folder there with some numbers. Open it. Let the download complete, but not necessarily install - and you will see for yourself that the MAS has downloaded 2 things there - the os x update AND the firmware update.

What are you guys experiencing as far as running the updated software with Office 2016? Crashing problems solved?

It's too early to know if the Office crashing issue has been resolved, but my fingers are crossed. After I've successfully used it for several days without crashing then I'll declare victory. I was really happy with Office 16 for Mac until I upgraded to El Capitan. So far so good....

I never experienced crashes, but it loads up slow. 2012 MBP with SSD takes about 6 bounces for initial load of Word, while 2009 iMac with 7200 HD takes around 10-12.

Last time I tried building a mailbox and all the mail in that box disappeared. I found it in the Folder in Library, but it had become orphaned. I will not try that again. Besides, how can you rebuild a mailbox that is not even there in your list of Mailboxes? All the Mailboxes that I had saved mail to were not to be found in Mail program.

I wish I could say the same, and that is while running on Yosemite 10.10.5. One Word doc (saved in Compatibility mode) no longer renders correctly with Office 2016 for Mac. I thought I had lost 90% of the Word doc. Only 6 pages of 70 are visible. After mailing the doc to someone running Word on Windows, though, it appeared just fine. I have opened a case with MS, but no resolution to date. I have been leery of updating to El Capitan given the complaints there with Office 2016.

The firmware update installs on systems which require it.

Please post back when you declare victory because I'm not updating until more than one person declares! :p

Going to El Capitan has sure played havoc with Suitcase Fusion 4 auto-activation and upgrading to Fusion 6 doesn't do anything because Extensis can't find the solution ... NICE.

Hasn't fixed the Preview bugs where opening a 10kb PDF requires 650+MB of RAM and opening a 4MB PDF requires 2.4GB of RAM until the application crashes.

iTunes 12.3.1 not running properly after the updates. Takes a long time to start with spinning cursor initiated--fans start running. Once up and running, can access library/playlists with iTunes match content, but can't reliably access Apple Music (For You, New, Radio, and Connect tabs, nothing appears except spinning grey circle) or the iTunes store. So much for the iTunes "performance and stability" improvements here. Exiting iTunes takes a very long time as well. Mid-2014 MacBook Pro.

More correcr question "Unicode consortiun, are you done with adding emojis?" As apple just implemented the lates unicode update, adding way more than imojis, but emojis seem to get all the media.

and of course my Android (non Nexus) friends are SO far behind with unicode updates that whenever I try to use a new emoji with them they just get a blank space!
