Maybe the will fix the excessive bandwidth issue so I don't get charged for using 500 gigs a month when I actually only use a 100. Doubt it.

Just saw your post...i now know why i used 62GB over a 3 week period just from my iPhone personal hotspot (which i only use about 1/3 of the time when at client's offices)...my phone bill for that period: $827...Apple needs to reimburse me lol

Funny, came back from lunch - had to restart App Store app - 826MB to download, says I should get it all in 2 mins. And we're past the 26x MB mark where it got stuck last time! Success!

One must be a total idiot to rush into installing this.

Well see we have to download this version, test it, make sure it doesn't break or breaks other things in the OS so that we can safely deploy it on enterprise, schools etc, so that idiots like yourself can use it without throwing a tantrum fit as to why your computer doesnt work after you patched.

Would you happen to have the Delta Upd?

I don't know what that patch is and if you need to install it before. I never did it with other delta updates only the Firmware Update, but in most cases it does also not do anything.

Installed 10.11.6 over the latest beta, strange that this install is not shown in the 'installed' updates. See screenshot...

826 MB for me but noticed an iTunes update of 110 MB was included. So 716MB just for the OSX update. This was for my Mac mini.

Just noticed a little more apple rot. Going back into updates in the app store, it shows I have installed itunes 12.4.2 twice, and nothing about OSX being installed. But about this mac does show 10.11.6 is installed.

My favorite OS releases are the ones that are STRICTLY "under the hood" improvements. Still miss 10.6 though because that iteration of OS (and all sub iterations) was advertised (and delivered) on "under the hood" improvements. 10.6.8 remains to this day the "bar" relative to stability and what a good Mac OS should be.

El Cap to me is the most stable version of OS X we've had. I never understand this idea that Snow Leopard was some monolith of stability; I had to deal with endless Spotlight indexing freakouts.

First time having issues.... can anyone corroborate?

Installation of 10.11.6 went fine... machine booted back up ... " > About This Mac" still shows "10.11.5".

Same here (except not over beta); not showing as installed, and my installed version is still showing as 10.11.5. First time ever having problems installing an Mac OS update in 20 years...

The Mac App Store app NEEDS to be redesigned.. Remove the Software Update feature from it already! What a joke that design is....

oh ok the Patch is the Delta Upgrade, the bottom link is the Combo...

So despite Software Update saying that my computer was ready to reboot to install 10.11.6, it seems to have done that prematurely. A second restart later and 10.11.6 showed up in Software Update again, with 500MB of 716MB downloaded. No wonder it was using such high CPU. I was concerned!

We'll see how the second install goes. :)

The Combo is much larger. I posted the link before.

The Patch seems to be a Delta Update too but a little smaller than the actual one.
When you update through the App Store you sometimes also get different sizes on different Macs.

Well, could the 3rd time be the charm?

Upon rebooting to install the completed download of 10.11.6 (or so it said), the update "failed to verify"... first time seeing that one too! Now my disk space is too low. Fun times.

You'd understand if you were afflicted with the "distnoted" process bug, as many have been with El Cap. On both of our brand new iMacs, this process randomly freaks out and sucks up all of the processor cycles. It happens routinely and can usually only be recovered with a hard restart. I have never seen a more serious bug with any version of OS X, including the very early ones. Some said the problem went away when they installed a Sierra beta so I am hoping it has been tracked down and fixed and rolled into this update.
