is anyone else having trouble getting the update to run? It downloaded the update but now my computer is just sitting here... no messages or anything... how do you get it to install?!

Edit: I had to reboot then run updater again, then it automatically installed.

Retina Macbook Pro. Just updated to 10.8.2 including the new firmware. My battery first showed 3 hours and now its at 4:35. It used to be around 6 hours with 10.8.1. So it got worse.

Anyone else?

I upgraded within a few days of the first/original release of Mountain Lion and haven't experienced 1 problem since my upgrade. I'm using a 13" MBP that is a couple of years old. That being said, everyone always seems to have a different experience.

My battery life did "seem" to be less than with Lion. But, I could be imaginging this. I often run my laptop directly via household current vs.. cycling the battery like many people do. I'm really not that portable.

As of right now, after this most recent update, my battery life indicator shows that I have 6 hours left at 97% charge. That's with Chrome and Safari running.... Chrome having 10 tabs open and Safari having 2 tabs open. Brightness for the screen and keyboard is at 50% each. Battery cycles indicate 494 with battery health at 86% (4972mAh). Using after-market SSD.

I have 21.5 inch Mid-2011 iMac so no worries about batteries but I feel nervous upgrading still because I upgraded to Snow Leopard on my old iMac caused me a lot of problems. I am also wondering if Airplay would work with my iMac mid-2011 I believe it is compatible not sure.

purge cmd

My 10.8.2 update happened flawlessly here in California.

First thing I noticed was that the Purge command no longer returns an error before clearing active memory.

Battery life seems to be improved on a MBP 5,5 mid 2009

For those having issues with using iMessage with your phone #:
I was having issues with it as well, but here is what I did to make it work.

1) Make sure iOS 6 is installed on your iPhone and synced to iTunes 10.7
2) Sign out of your iMessage and close the app
2) On iPhone, Settings -> Messages -> Turn off iMessage
3) Turn iMessage back on (it will say waiting for activiation)
4) It will give you an option for using your Apple ID. Click that
5) Add your Apple ID
6) Open iMessage on your desktop and it should prompt you about merging #s

Wth is going on. 4 hrs and change on an Air!? I'm running Safari, bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, no keyboard illumination and auto-brightness.

Seemingly improved...

Currently sat at 94% on June 2012 MBP 15"... I have a wireless transfer running to my NAS drive along with itunes/firefox etc open and the remaining battery is showing 6:53.

A definite improvement on 10.8.1. :)

My rMBP showed me 6:45 right before the update (only safari opened), after the update I get 4:23.... (only safari opened, same webpage, same brightness)

I would use these smilies to describe how I'm feeling:     :(

EDIT: Dropped to 4hrs now (still just safari)...

Why the F is Safari full screen mode only available in landscape? Portrait is the natural orientation for iPhone and Safari is most used in that way. They made a similar puzzling decision with rotation lock. What the hell, Apple?

Why am I not seeing this as an update in my Mac Store app?

EDIT: As I post this, it pops up haha.

Battery With OS 10.8.2

Still no battery fix as it goes down with each new upgrade.. now its barely 3 hours with my MacAir... Apple is more interested in profits than fixing software it seems.. If its not the iPhone 5 or iOS 6 it looks like they have no interest anymore...

Just got a cMBP 3 weeks ago and with this update I went from 6+ hours to 3 -just with normal Safari browsing- wtf..

Most accounts say there are battery improvements which means the problem is likely with your setup/configurations.

I don't see Facebook in the Notifications preference pane. Any ideas?

Edit: Never mind... I forgot you had to sign in with Mail, Contacts & Calendars first.

My configuration is absolutely the same. I even quit all unused applications something I never cared to do before. I have been on battery power for an hour and it went to 70%. I am happy for all the other people who get more time out of the battery but I hope next update works better for mine.

Battery With OS 10.8.2

The only thing I'm running is Chrome.. everything is turned down or off.. the fluctuation keeps jumping back and forth from 3 hours to 4 hours to 3 hours... now I am down to 2 hours with 69% battery remaining.. something is terribly wrong here...

You may want to calibrate your battery or restart your Mac and see how it goes.

Any feedback on this actions will be appreciated. I'm worried about mine as well. Battery life is about 3.5 hours in my Late 2011 MBP 15" using only integrated graphics with gfxstatus.

Edit: Forgot to tell I'm still running 10.8.1 (updating after work). Use is light; safari, chrome and tweetdeck.
