I'm either being told 'Time to upgrade', or 'Keep away from Windows 8'.

I've been running Betas, and the official Windows 8 release since March of last year. Ended up running the old Win7 bootcamp 4 drivers, and had the odd issue with stability, and touchpad goofyiness of late, since installing 3rd party drivers for mutitouch support.. so, I was pretty happy to know Bootcamp 5 was available... until I ran the assistant to download the drivers. No go.

My mid 2009 MacBook Pro is not supported. Only 2010 or higher.

Reader Mode broken?

Can't seem to get the blue Reader button to light up in the new Safari in 10.8.3.

Update: I've found I do get the blue button on some sites. Seems like fewer of 'em though.

It's very, very annoying to get rid of and shouldn't even be necessary.

Firstly, pretty much all operating systems use swap of some kind, including Windows and OS X (file based).

Did you not have the option during the Ubuntu installation to not use it?

I've never done on Ubuntu install on a Mac/boot camp but generally if you customise the partition scheme rather than using the recommended options you can choose not to use it.

----------

Yep, it's retarded. By far the stupidest thing I've encountered in Ubuntu.

I just actually checked.

"Specify partitions manually".

From there you just create / and no swap.

And you're calling Ubuntu stupid? This is the clearest case of PEBKAC i've seen in a while.

LOL, you definitely didn't understand what I was saying at all. When I said "mechanics", I wasn't referring to moving parts, I was referring to the engineering. I'm certainly not going to pretend that I know more than the next guy. This is what I've been reading for years. If you say it doesn't hurt the machine then it's all good.

Sleep still powers it down, whether you shut down or sleep. I never hear hard drives power down or change tone for a reboot. Only shutdown or sleep you hear the power up/power down whir. As for rebooting, it's the same fully powered sound until the OS loads on either Mac or Windows.

Breaking news today out of Cupertino: White smoke can be seen from the smokestack upon Apple's headquarters -- they've finally chosen their candidate for the 10.8.3 update, and have released him into the public. :p

Or just a Mac caught fire :p

Woow, this actually fixed a lot of stuff for me. iMessage displaying out of order, fast shut down times, bookmark syncing to iOS.

Happy:)

Does this fix the File crashing issue? Way overdue, my Messenger stil not right (damn chat History crashing it).

To make you feel better, why don't you complain to the person sending you the messages, who apparently thought it was a good joke?

----------

I've found this too. Anyone else? WebKit still better than Safari?

How can Webkit be faster than Safari, when Safari uses Webkit?

I know I shouldn't jump on the update right away but 10.8.2 had so many issues I'll do it anyway. Knock. On. Wood. Using the combo updater of course, I am not that crazy...

Because Safari doesn't use the newest version of Webkit. There are a few builds of Webkit released every day.

Has anyone been able to successfully bootcamp with the 3TB with Fusion iMac? I downloaded and installed the 10.8.3 update with no issues but after rebooting and starting up bootcamp, I haven't been able to successfully partition the drive. I was hoping to split the drive to 2TB for Mac and 1TB for Windows 7. It seems to just sort of hang.

I will try it as soon as I have done the update this evening. Will get back to you again.
