Thanks for the link! Mac Pro 3.1 (Early 2008) & Win8 Pro x64 here and that's not supported!

Mac Pro (Early 2009) or later
Windows 7 x64, Windows 8 x64

Any advice on the exact difference between the Mac Pro models regarding the driver support for the hardware?

Will my machine 'blend' these drivers? ;)

So, Apple still didn't get it right with 10.8 after 3 incremental updates and you want 10.9? Why, I must ask? This new OS X version every year BS is what's killing stability! 10.8.3 would be here long before if it wasn't for that.. what they couldn't fix on 10.8.3, they would on 10.8.4. Now they just care about 10.9 and putting all their efforts in it. Sure there will be a 10.8.4 version some time but, how much more? People are still having trouble.. different bugs were not solved but they will launch 10.9 and start from scratch. But, maybe it will have Siri and Apple Maps so that's all good YAY! NOT

NUFF SAID for now!!!!

I'm bailing out here and will stop my quest for those so much needed (support) drivers for a full-hardware (like e.g. :apple: AHCI drivers) use of Windows 8 (Pro) X64! I saw some "IntelxHCISetup" in the package, but I'm not willing to update my Win8, simply by trial-and-error! I'll sit this one out!

Anybody gave the drivers a spin on a Mac Pro 3.1 yet?

If your Windows 8 x64 is already running on your MacPro you may not need all the drivers provided on the new Boot Camp.

If you download the new Boot Camp zip I previously linked and the burn the contents to a DVD you have access to all the drivers including the Apple Drivers.

You should be able to pick and choose which drivers to install without having to run the full setup.exe

As I indicated in my earlier post I have had Windows 8 x64 running perfectly since December and I did this by picking and choosing the Drivers to provide the missing actions.

I specifically had to enable the keyboard, Trackpad, Mouse etc. after doing a lot of searching both on the Boot Camp Driver DVD, in Apple Discussions, and elsewhere using Google and then using the Windows Device Manager to install the correct driver

Is your BootCamp Control Panel working?

All of us who have been running Windows 8 for the past few months have had to do this; so yes blended drivers are working.

When can we redeem gift cards by taking a pic with our iPhone?

This seems logical progression. Actually, probably should ahve had the mobile app go first, or at least alongside the Mac. Any ideas?

Hi rtheb,

Thanks for your extensive reply!

Yes, running bootcamp windows 8 pro x64 since dec 2012 now.

I downloaded them to a [fat32] USB-stick, so I can use that in Windows.

Is there a documented listing of the separate files and what they are ment for in a bootcamp setup? e.g. the IntelCHISetup, are those the drivers alike the AHCI drivers in Mac OS X?

I'd love to boot-up from the two ODD sata connectors on the MOBO, because in an earlier stage (install new DVD-unit) I already routed 2 sata cables from them to the optical bay 1+2!

So did I! But now that Apple stated that the hardware of the Mac Pro 3.1 is not supported, I don't want to make this a trial-and-error excersize

I specifically had to enable the keyboard, Trackpad, Mouse etc. after doing a lot of searching both on the Boot Camp Driver DVD, in Apple Discussions, and elsewhere using Google and then using the Windows Device Manager to install the correct driver.

That drill alone took me nearly 1 month!

It's not to nag, but why is a software update always such a search-and-rescue mission on the internet/google/great forums like macrumors etc... for those who are the non die-hard tweakers?

Is your BootCamp Control Panel working?

Yep, I can use the bootcamp start-up-disk utility in Windows. After the initial drivers installation (full-setup) i.c.w. the DVD-install & USB-WindowsSupport combination this gave me a lot of BSOD's in the beginning.

Thanks for reading and enjoy your own tweakend! ;)

Works great and feels somehow snappier...

2 x systems.

2009 2.53ghz MBP & 3.33ghz HEX Core Mac Pro running Logic.

Nice.

anyone do a clean install and notice a considerable difference versus over doing a upgrade install? wondering if its worth to do a clean install.

new version of safari does seem faster. loads pages quicker, like people say it does snappier :) i like!

Still s l o w shutdown....and the damn desktop wallpaper keeps reverting one I've tried to change for a few weeks now....and folders that add to Desktop settings in System Preferences keep getting wiped out of the list fro some reason. rMBP in my sig. I mean, in the scheme of things, individually, no real big deal, but it's stupid that Apple's flagship machine can't even do these basic things correctly even after installing the combo update.

My desktop folders keep missing as well for both my 17" n mac mini 2011..

And......

Grumble.

Once again the last update that broke apache requiring me to fix it manually broke it again but this time my fix isn't working.

Even the aftermarket solution I found to fix what Apple decided to break isn't working.

Makes me want to go back to Snow Leopard. The rest of it seems decent though.

- OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.3 (540.46 MB)
- OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.3 (Combo) (793.69 MB)

whats the difference between the combo and non-combo?

Combo is the one you can use on any version of OS X Mountain Lion

Non-combo only works on 10.8.2.

iMac usage

Hi I am a novice to computers and thinking of buying an iMac I just want advice as to whether there is a difference between the 21inch 2.7GHz or 2.9GHz, I will only be using it for university so writing essays, downloading tunes and storing pictures,I don't want to pay for what I won't use, but have experience problems with PC in terms of storage so would like advise on if there is a significant difference between the two ranges of iMac and taking into account what I want to use it for. Many thanks
