I'm curious how they come up with the build numbers on the "special" builds. So, 13B42 should be the 42nd build of 10.9("13").1("B"), just like 10.9.0 was 13A603 and the 603rd build of 10.9.0.

I have a 2013 rMBP that came with 13A2093 (2093rd build of 10.9.0?) and is now running 13B3116 (3116th build of 10.9.1?). All of the leaked Mac Pro benchmarks show 13A4023 (4023rd build of 10.9.0?), as far back as Sept 27th - but that build is much further along numerically than the released build for the rMBP leaked on Oct. 23rd!

Anyone who understands how this works, please chime in.

Not to be condescending, but i don't think you would understand it if we explained it to you. it's a highly technical process.

The Mail app is a bit better but it's still got a huge memory leak and uses a lot of resources.

I'm really annoyed that easily reproducible bugs are not fixed such as Firewire drives not spinning down when you put a Mac to sleep - I naively assumed that such a glaring bug would be fixed in 10.9.1, especially as it's never been an issue with previous versions of OS X (How silly of me eh?).

As much as I like things Apple do, sometimes it beggars belief the things they choose to fix and the things they choose to ignore.

If I was feeling particularly cynical I'd say a firewire bug is something they'll probably ignore for a long time because they're not that bothered with Firewire anymore, they'd rather get you to jump to Thunderbolt or USB 3.0

Unbelievable....such a small issue and they don't care to fix it...pathetic.

That's exactly what I've been thinking.

I don't care, I'll still haunt Apple with Feedbacks and Bug Reports until they get it right...!:mad::mad:

On one of my machines, this update seems to have introduced the local keychain access login bug that many people experienced when Mavericks first rolled out. The machine was running Mavericks perfectly fine prior to upgrading to 10.9.1. Anyone else?

Apple Mail issue still

Anyone still need to constantly switch the "New Message Sound' option under Preferences in order to hear sound when Checking new messages ?

More time than not, i still need to constantly change this option to "none" then back again, just to hear this.

Its annoyance to say the least.

Hmmmmm

Just installed the update - went into Mail created a new Smart Mailbox with the search criteria "Any" + "Received this Week" clicked on the Smart Mailbox and what did it find ******* All!

So that's not fixed then...

I've been having lots of Apple Mail problems, and this update has introduced a new one.

My remembered email addresses are mixed up. For example, I have the option set to BCC myself on everything. When I open a new message, the BCC is auto-filled with "John Smith". I panic, think I've been BCCing John Smith in on everything - only when I click on the address it shows my email, just with the wrong name attached.

I guess I'll clear out all my remembered email recipients and start over.

Edit: Um, how do I clear out the old remembered addresses? I can't find the option anywhere.

Still can't untick "Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox".

All I want to do is use the Del key to archive in Gmail instead of actually deleting, anyone know a workaround for this?

I have read elsewhere that you can simply customize the toolbar and replace the delete/trash icon with the archive button. Not sure though what happens when you press delete...

Back to the pre-Mavericks cloned system for me

This is around the time I decide to stop torturing myself and get back to getting work done. I upgraded because there were so many raves about what had been improved "under the hood", but under the hood is exactly what is faulty. (Well, I hate most of the interface changes too, but...)

Honestly, there are SO many small and less small things wrong with Mavericks on my 2011 MBP that I can't even find the benefits. Even forgiving the bugs the overall sluggishness and stalling (especially in the freaking Finder of all places) is unforgivable at this date.

Back to my happier state of two months ago, when everything pretty much worked fine.

Wonderful. Three finger swipe still does not work in Finder. What the hell.

It works perfectly for me. Nothing happens because it's not a Finder feature.

----------

I updated my 2012 Mini that has 16GB of RAM from 10.9 to 10.9.1 and noticed I have 1GB of VRAM.

The last I remember it being was 768MB, but I could have still be on ML.

Anyone else notice this, or did the change occur with 10.9 and I'm just now finding out?

That changed with Mavericks 10.9.

Am I going crazy or has 'clean up' and 'clean up by' gone in the finder? Everything snaps to the grid now...

edit

my bad, realised that when arrange by is on the options aren't shown on right click menu. Doh

Apple needs to abolish avfoundation and bring back compatibility for Perian. That would be a nice update.

Also, many of my icons don't refresh and for some reason when selecting 'open with' for any of my media files, I get the VLC icon showing up TWICE.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. Perian is dead software. Asking Apple to roll back Quicktime to support dead software? :D

Maybe a better thing to do would be to try and get Apple to support plug-ins in their current AVFoundation based Quicktime X. Get a major developer behind it while you're at it. They tend to ignore individuals unless they are famous and/or important.

Frankly, the biggest feature I'd like to see if a system-wide disable option for App Nap, especially when plugged into an AC power source. I don't want odd software glitchy buggy behavior due to something outside (App Nap) screwing with the program's run behavior. And there's no need for it while plugged into an AC power source (like a desktop or even a docked Macbook). Energy Settings has different options for AC and battery and this should be one of them. You can also NOT disable App Nap for certain applications (e.g. Terminal or Finder) so if they cause an issue somehow too bad.

Scrolling not too choppy if scrollbar set to "Automatically based on..."

I've tested in Outlook 2011 and Safari. Scrolling is smoother compared to if the setting is "Always". However, Outlook is still not as smooth as in 10.8.5.

Hmm so far no system hangups or random beach balls. RAM is holding up fairly well, too. I seem to have 1GB free under normal usage vs. less than 300MB free from before the update. Sometimes RAM would go as low as 23MB free with 10.9.0
